Labour Party politics

Which no-one has ever said
Implied. 👍 Interesting that a few are keen to issue a denial, clearly Reform have a policy on this don't tread over the line.

Burnham says he wants more devolution and decisions made at a local level. Just what we need, yet more layers of government, more taxes, more repressive regulations. At the same time he wants us to rejoin the EU - so much for local government then.

He can say and promise what he wants. Its how he funds it that matters. Now from what I can sense, this is going to become an effective assault on the middle/property owning classes. Which is all lovely and left wing but is losing strategy. As is devolution. Wales is the perfect example of what an utter disaster that has been. Everyone bangs on about what he has done in Manchester when the reality is that the best thing to happen to Manchester in living memory was the IRA blowing up the middle of it. That is what led to the mass investment.

But let's see. The reality remains that for as long as the UK is spending more than it is earning, and the % of homes which are net drains on the tax system remains over 50% then we are ultimately screwed.

And nobody in conventional politics is willing to face up to the fact that the Welfare state is destroying the UK.

The UK is a dying relic of a previous order. What matters is what emerges from the collapse.

Bad for all of us but the only and however minor, the only good thing is millions of these lefty lovers will be as affected as the others. Most live in nice big houses and own tons. What’s that poem, when they came for me etc. karma happening in real time!!!

Burnham's speech was just another load of cliched codswallop. A feeble attempt to give the impression of yet another new beginning. I predicted as much and we got it.

Labour are all about big words and media opportunities with nothing to back it up and no money to spend. It's all being spent on spongers and 'diversity'.

As you would expect, nothing on immigration and no opportunity to question it.

Burnham's main vision seems to be that if we just move where decisions are made away from London, the very same people making those decisions will make better ones. It is of course a classic Remainer idea (apart from who the people are making the decisions) and as with most Remainer ideas, is somewhat flawed.

After nearly 90 years in Business, Coughlans Bakery have called it a day. Took Rachel & her party only 2 years to wreck this long standing business.

Indeed. Suspect the owners just had had enough of trying to make it work. Increase in fuel prices, NI increases, no doubt an increase in a whole host of other rising costs.

Their product range was completely different to Greggs, as usual your words are coming from between your buttocks.

Who would be pleased that a local business closes and jobs are lost, only a moron....hang on

Wake up and smell the coffee. The costs they’ve imposed on business that employ youngsters and part timers are killing the high street.
The NI increase (particularly lowering the threshold) is costing businesses £000s

So you voted Leave (at least partly) to protect Westminster hegemony?

No doubt all factoring, but they would likely have failed under the Tories or Reform.

I suspect they were undercut by Greig's, but they were also undoubtedly too slow to catch up with changing tastes. More people are less willing to eat food created in chemical factories, frozen and then transferred to a shop where it is reheated and served as "freshly baked". The 1970s was a long time ago.

They probably didn't get enough gay cake orders.
