Labour Party politics

Abortion is normally a topic I keep away from because I am conflicted. I can see merits in both sides of the argument. Essentially I believe it's a woman's right to make decisions about her own body however I am queasy at the huge numbers of abortions each year.

Yesterday's vote mainly by Labour in favour of decriminalising abortion though is a joke. In theory a woman can abort her baby the day before she is due to deliver and will not face any sanctions. I think most people would consider that as murder.

I am not suggesting that she be thrown in prison for life but she should face justice and let a court decide what is appropriate in her case. However it appears that the police are not interested and neither are the left.

This is a step too far and shame on Parliament for slipping this through during the dog days of summer.
I don't think you can have one.

"in Theory" ? Its not been very theoretical in places like China and some other countries. A female baby seen as a burden. The practice of 'female infanticide' being widely practiced. Leading to a society with an awful gender-imbalance. Whole villages of boys wandering around with nothing to do. Sounds familiar ?

its all criminal, in my opinion. Lefties often take the abortion debate too far. You then end up with countries like Italy, South Korea, Eastern Germany......everybody getting ancient and the nation going down the Swanny.

I hope you are not suggesting that some communities in this country may terminate because of gender.

Can you highlight some left-wing policies or things that Starmer has introduced so far?
Starmer started off as a young Marxist, but his aim now is to stay in power.
Like all good leftists, he will happily forget his principles when it suits him. He is Mr Flip Flop.

I think it's fair to say that Britain has never seemed more like '1984' than with this government.

The tax burden increased under the last Tory fiasco of a government, all done by stealth such as not raising the tax allowances and tinkering with pensions. Taxes will rise for the forseeable future, think about petrol revenue and electric vehicles and the eventual end of tobacco another tax yielder that will wither away, both tax streams will have to be replaced. I have to say you are kind enough to make your posts mercifully short.
Yes, all governments over-tax us. All governments overspend. All governments embark on ridiculous schemes. All governments struggle to run a tap. Long posts are not needed to state obvious facts.

I saw an interview this morning with Miatta Fahnbulleh (MP for Peckham & Camberwell) and thought she was very impressive. She didn't get a particularly easy ride but answered the questions without evasion. She should have a bright future in the Labour party.

All Marxists want to stay in power as do all politicians with their head in the trough and their hands in our wallets

She is hardly from " the hood ". Family were senior Liberian politicians, privileged upbringing and education, never had a proper job so perfect for a career in Labour politics.

I have some memory that council tax rises were capped at 5%?

Would appear not or am I imagining that
Yes but...

"They also believe that ministers may give boroughs such as Westminster and Wandsworth special permission to raise council tax by more than five per cent if their finances are very hard hit."

My son lives in Wandsworth, I warned him this would happen when control changed to Labour, still not a terrible place to live but the decline is there to see when you visit from time to time rather than live there all the time.

Must be a coincidence that Westminster and Wandsworth were the two councils who had the lowest poll tax when it was introduced.
