Kieran McKenna

If he needs a break from football management after just five seasons or so then he's best left to go look after his dogs.

I cant help but think there is more to this story - IDK, Maybe he is sick & tired of getting Ipswich promoted every couple seasons only to be prime relegation candidates the whole following PL season ?

Its a long season to be stuck in front of the media every few days only to be asked broadly the same questions about the team getting beat & the probability of him getting sacked.

Especially if he views this current squad as not substantially better than the last group he got promotion with.

He's come to a reasonable conclusion at Ipswich. Probably can't take them any further.

Plenty of managers jump at the first opportunity of another job. Usually they don't need to financially. Is it always the best thing to do? No, often not.

I don't think it says anything bad about his abilities or drive that he would take a break after leaving Ipswich, or that he would leave them at this time, after five years and having become a yo-yo club.

It’s a strange one for sure. There has to be more to this than meets the eye.

I heard a rumour that it's cos ippo wouldn't entertain fulham's interest in him. He has £8m clause in contract which was putting clubs off but after all he's done for ippo he's disappointed that they weren't budging on that £8m.

Yeah, if he stays out for one season he'll be free from the clause. If he wants to join anywhere before that time, the new club will have to pay up, or negotiate compensation.

It could well be simply all down to that. A break won't harm him anyway, he'll be the same manager he was to date, possibly more energised, and he will still be relatively in demand, as he is now.

Well he shouldn't have signed the contract then.

You get this a lot in football, clubs want to tie you down for a reason in return you get the big salary. The idea that Ipswich will just fold because he's been a good bloke is nonsense. He is a club asset and they want their money back or at least keep him on gardening leave so he doesn't join a competitor .

Simon Jordan released Dowie from his contract for personal reasons and how did that end up.

There are no favours in football.
