Kees Smit, Paper Talk and Suggestion

It’s less unlikely then it sounds. The lad is very much a head screwed on down to earth character and will be well aware he will struggle for game time at likes of Madrid.

A good offer from us with a limited transfer fee may actually appeal more then many may think.
Also he has not been playing well of late and the big benefit of LL money is that it will be possible to outbid the Dutch topteams.
Real Madrid are not spending money on transfers these days so whilst the player may fancy it unless they come up with the readies we might have a better chance. There is also the prospect that moving from a Dutch team to Madrid might just be a step to soon for him.

I think it more likely though that we will be beaten by another PL team.

That's encouraging. Thanks for that.

Yep not sure he is Madrid level.

Newcastle have a pretty stacked CM, so may be difficult to get minutes there.

If he moved to us, IMO he'd be behind Kamada and Wharton but ahead of Lerma. But Kamada is out of contract in the summer.

He's streets ahead of Kamada in my opinion. Him and Wharton in midfield together would be something to behold.

my problem is the profile. hes much like adam wharton however hes worse defensively but his attacking output is slightly better. Hes an 8/10 hybrid like Kamada so I dont see why we would sign him unless hes a contigency plan for wharton

He's valued at over £50m by some, sadly out of our price range. He'll probably end up at Bayern.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d take him, but I’m none too sure how you’ve made this assessment.

I'd never heard of him until we played them and it was apparent from that game that he has something about him. Ronald Koeman has compared him to Pedri and he was named player of the tournament at the U19 Euros this summer.

Not sure if you have access but The Athletic did a piece on him here: Why Europe’s top clubs are already taking notice of Kees Smit

I'm not badmouthing Kamada in any sense but it seems clear that he's going to end up playing a much higher level than Daichi and is already being linked with Real, Barca, United, Bayern, Arsenal etc.
