Kamada

Last night he was more like a spanner in the works.
Arguably his worst performance for us!
It certainly didn’t help that it was his first game back but I blame more Glasner in starting him rather than bringing him on after 60/70 minutes. He got game time versus Brighton coming on late and needed that again last night. What also didn’t help him was that Wharton was also poor playing alongside him resulting in neither of them helping in there defensive duties as well as constantly giving the ball away. Wharton needed Hughes or even Lerma alongside him and perhaps we may have been stronger in our defensive play? Easy to blame Kamada but Glasner should be the one being blamed for starting him and then making ludicrous substitutions to get us back on track. Think we ended up with just Hughes as a recognised midfielder and a plethora of forwards not knowing what they were doing without any service. We even took Munoz off when it looked like he was beginning to get some dangerous crosses/passes in?

Think it's unfair to have a go at Kamada all the time. Yes he had an awful game last night, as did one or three others, but he's still been brilliant on the whole over the last year. Unlike JP and Ollie and not forgetting St. Marc, he himself hasn't said he wants to leave, only the media click baiters have. He's been slated unfairly and been the scapegoat when it's not been justified for some time now. Give the lad break

Just cause his not said publicly he wants to leave, it doesn't make him a brilliant player, he's nowhere near brilliant, he's just about average as a prem player and even then, im being generous.

Whats JP done so wrong ? He's almost 29 and has interest from juventus and Milan, any professional football player who picks palace over them 2 clubs is a complete idiot and doesn't deserve the privilege of being a professional football player.

Simply not true. Hughes' passing is generally very good and often threads clever passes through to a teammate creating decent attacking chances on goal. We'd be mad to get rid of him.

Agreed somewhat but I'm kind of in the middle. To me his vision is good and his passing perfectly acceptable. We would be mad to let him go. He's a Jimmie Mac type player and I love me them so hope to see him in the shirt for a few more years.

I'm saying Kamada gets the brunt of all the stick and in my opinion he has been brilliant over the last year. Ran the show against Villa in the semi...watch it again. It was Wharton who laid on the ball for JSL to score last night...it was Kamada who broke the play up, as he's done frequently over the last year, made space for and fed Wharton.
On JP Glasner and Marc..all legends to me for what they did. However, all want/wanted to go so I'm my book if you don't want to play for my club you can f*** off.
Daichi hasn't said he wants to go. His contract runs out and it's the media who are saying it. Fine if you don't agree with me but I ain't gonna change my mind bud.

He really does.

First 30 mins, Kamada was exceptional. Finding pockets of space between the lines, and as you said, the 'pre-assist' for the first goal.

The game basically went to sh1t after that, and he lost possession a couple of times.

One thing I did notice, that the Kamada haters wont is that he on numerous occasions was busting a gut to get in the box and support.

This is what I have an issue with. 'Exceptional'? That's a big call. He wasn't exceptional...he did his job. Played some tidy passes etc. But such is the bar he set for himself, that suddenly you Kamada lovers deem a performance like that exceptional.

He lost possession multiple times. He let play run through his channels without busting a gut to tackle, resulting in three goals. He missed an absolute sitter at the end that would've gained us a point.

As far as midfield performances go, it was a shocker. There's no getting away from that. Literally every poster here has correctly acknowledged that if Hughes was in that role yesterday, the score would've probably been different.

I appreciate his superior attacking capabilities. But as you yourself have previously stated, it's not his job to get into the box and support. Perhaps he actually is betters suited to one of those 10 roles, if that's what he wants to do. Because he certainly doesn't provide the stability and solidity required in one of the two 6 roles.

Anyway, we're going round in circles a bit, aren't we. Sorry, just can't help myself 🙂

Well if he's as good as you say he will be getting plenty of offers from clubs who finish above us in the league this year then.

The cog in the engine in the midfield, we should be holding onto but someone knows better
A spanner in the works.

I notice he did his usual "bodies on the line" approach to blocking by destroying his mobility with his arms behind his back. I hate that, it's stupid, he removes ability to block at all. He does it all the time the bellend.

£105k a week for that shite

I disagree and say he really has. He was awesome in the cup run from April onwards. Has helped the midfield tick with deft touches, turns and vision. His movements off the ball, drawing players to free up our midfield and attack, has been outstanding. Last night was the worst he's played since his early days of adapting to the Prem, and probably the culture. Think he gets unfair abuse from some..far more than Pino. Pino started to get the stick in Kamada's absence, which is also a bit harsh imo. Sadly they'll always be one player who maybe struggling, has hit a bad patch at the wrong time or just needs time to adapt. Don't think we'll agree on this one though fella🤷🏻‍♂️

Pino is getting stuck because he's ineffective and loses the ball, but he's still more effective than Kamada.

Anyone using the adjective "awesome" about Kamada just tells me that you must've written this whilst peaking on Ketamine

No I'm old school puff😜
Did you not watch the semis, final, shield and several games he got man of the match and constant high ratings? I'm thinking you're one of those who jumped on the Cup bandwagon after the Fulham game and became a gold member just to get to Wembley and f***** all the true fans off. Bet you wear half and half scarves as well😂

And that was the problem last night in that he only lasted 30 minutes. In my opinion it would have been better starting Hughes alongside Wharton and then bringing Kamada on for the last 30 minutes. I doubt then we would have caved in as we did in the first half. It was Glasners mistake starting him. I certainly don’t think like many have said on here that Kamada is a bad player. Last night was down to a terrible team performance for a 15 minute spell in the first half and then some ludicrous substitutions in the second half with a team of attackers and no service to them or balance to the team. Kamada coming on for the last 30 rather than starting the match where it was obvious he wasn’t yet ready may have made last night a win for us?

What isn't clear in the article is whether he himself wants to go or the club doesn't want to renew.

As Neillo said, he's very much a Glasner player so no doubt he'll follow him wherever he ends up next.
I heard on a Palace podcast that Parish was ok for him to go & an extension not offered to him. If Parish looks at it from a business sense , he was brought in as Oliver demanded we got him. Also he was the top earner But not performing to an ability that earned that wage.
Some games he can be good ( not brilliant) yet some games he can be do out of touch Sunday league Purley way performances. Against Burnley it was like he had not played with team for 6 months. His control on ball was mediocre & positioning offered no real threat or defensive energy

he was our best player for the first 35 minutes then faded due to lack of match fitness, his missed header wasn't his worst on the night, there was an interception that Burnley could have scored from on the break, he took time to adjust but he has been consistently very good for almost a year now, great positional sense and football intelligence not recognised by the likes who think they know better than professionals

Cast minds back to the summer a few years ago when we had about 13 out of contract at the same time. From memory, that may have included the likes of Townsend and Cahill etc, good lads who had done a good job. A lot of people, including on here, were going through the list and contending that most or all of them should go, as they were average.

My point at that time is that you should only let a player go for free if you know you can get a better replacement. Factor in that you need to pay a transfer fee quite often, and it's hard to come out of that situation on top, and it often makes sense to retain the average journeyman player at the end of his contract, so long as he can do a job. On the same basis, it's not like there isn't a good argument for trying to keep Kamada.

Even so, there are some strong arguments to let him go, even if he wants to stay.

Firstly, he has benefited from the high wages associated with a free transfer two or three times now, and may well have his heart set on doing it again. Unless we can match what he might make somewhere else, he probably won't stay. Even though keeping him saves paying a transfer fee for a replacement (probably), his salary is part of us being dangerously close to the turnover/wages limit. Keeping him would restrict us doing more important deals for other key players.

Second, he has very little resale value given his age, ability, and wages. Who would give us decent money for him? We have only now begun having a couple of quid to spend on transfers, and that's because we sold well. The key to that is saleable assets, and Kamada isn't one.

Third, ideally there should be some sort of hierarchy of merit in the wage structure. Of course, it doesn't always happen that way and often wages come from the circumstances when a player joins us, but once you start giving out second or third contracts on the same wages, you've chosen to double down on it. Kamada is on three times what Wharton is, twice Hughes. That must threaten to undermine harmony at times.

Finally, he just isn't that good. Not s***, but not great, and certainly not irreplaceable. Even before scouting for a particular replacement, the club has a fair idea of how hard the task will be. Replacing Olise and Eze is impossible. Replacing Kamada should realistically be achievable. The risks in letting him go are lower. Perhaps they won't be able to replace him, but there is little reason to presume that.

You're so wrong on me it's no surprise you're wrong on Kamada.

I went to the cup semi and finals in 1990, and the 2016 final and that Chelsea semi final too (obvs with tons of games in between home and away over the years), and yeah, I was offered tickets to the final but I declined them and gave them to my cousin because I felt I had a Wembley jinx and I was so desperate for us to win. I also played 100+ games for the supporters club Vs other supporters clubs, I have scored against Arsenal plus a few others too, and I was one of the 1000 to sponsor the game shirt after we got shafted by Goldberg.

You can thank me anytime, your finishing was as accurate as Kamadas on Sunday
