JRS

JRS another succesful loan spell what does he have to do, he would certainly press average Johnson for his place.

Cardines and Rodney good luck to them but they have not played at this level of football.

😎
Whilst Johnson has been crap, I don't think JRS is going to usurp him for that place in the side.
We're very overloaded in that attacking/winger position. Hopefully everyone gets a good pre-season and can make a better informed decision from there, but at 23 I think he'll likely end up moving to a Championship side

But he would get a pay cut surely.
Could be why he doesn’t winge and bitch about it. Or OG going will open the door to his return under a different manager.
Just a thought !
Why a pay cut? He is reportedly on c£10k a week at Palace and I recently read that the average wage in the championship is £16k.

He's still young and improving so would suit most top half championship teams.

He has 1 year left on his contract at Palace so probably best for all parties if he moves on. Such a shame really.

A player can have very good ability but does he have the resilience to succeed at the top level?
I remember Hodgson suggesting that Riedewald looked one of the most talented players in training, but in reality when it came to the crunch this was never really demonstrated on match days.
JRS clearly has some skill and an eye for goal, but from what I've observed he doesn't impose himself upon the game , even at Championship level.
He goes missing.
It's difficult to change a player's nature if the competitive instinct and drive isn't there.

I’ve always thought he’s never going to play top flight football with us, but looking at Brennan Johnson, would JRS be any less involved in games….and he didn’t cost us £35 million, he’s one of our own
I take much the same view. Thing is, the fact Johnson's performances (or Pinos) have been unacceptably poor doesn't make JRS good enough. Ultimately we need a forward line that can compete in the premier league.
