Jørgen Strand Larsen

Ugochukwu has scored 3 goals in 22 Premier League games. And he went for £25m. Broja is a walking surgery, who has been relegated from the Premier League twice (from memory). He has been sold for £21m. Strand Larsen was Wolves top scorer last season with 14 premier league goals and hasn't had any major injuries.

I would say £40m is a fair price for him, with your examples almost further proving my point about today's striker valuations.
Yesterday you could have had Matata for £30m.

Larsen is an inconsistent (putting it kindly) striker who is costing way over 40m. Thiago, also 24, had very little PL experience before this season and he has outscored Larsen 15-1 in the league this year

Larsen has not scored a goal from open play since playing us at Selhurst Park at the beginning of May last year bro. His only goal this season came from the spot v Burnley and also missed another one late on to win it for Wolves.

In fact, he has missed 2 pens this season, and therefore missed MORE pens than he has scored goals, included pens.

So Larsens last goal from open play in the Premier League was 9 months ago and of his 14 goals last year, 5 were also pens.

I think our best bet is sending JPM away for surgery on his knee if he needs it. If he doesn't then give him a few weeks off so it can fully recover. Keep him training with the U21s and sell for 35M in the summer.

Sort of desperate for JSL to come in... And bang goals in for fun whilst JPM is sat watching from the bench or the stand.

And watching his World Cup dream going down the pan because of his own ego!

Reap what you sow and all that!

Sorry HG your info is wrong. Last season he scored 14 goals from OPEN play, no pens, this season he has scored, so far, 1 goal from OPEN play , no pen. Those are EPL goals only.

So basically we’re signing him for what he did last season in a much better wolves side

He was top scorer for Wolves last year and this season they are an absolute basket case. Prior to Rob Edwards, not one player in their team was performing well. Since Rob Edwards arrival, Strand Larsen has been benched because he doesn't fit Edwards style of play.

Thiago is an phenomenal player who will most likely go on to the highest level of the sport. Can't compare exceptions to the rule though. For every Thiago, there is 10 Nikolas Fullkrug's.

I can't predict the future but I do hope JSL comes good, he'll have excellent supply on the pitch this season and for £43m is probably the best striker on the market we could have gone and bought in January.
Fullkrug hardly supports your arguments about 24 year olds. He was 31 when West Ham bought him!

I hope Larsen succeeds when he comes but am worried abour his intelligence. Why come to this basketcase of a club? The only explanation I can come up with is wages. And given that at Wolves he was already on a salary around that of our highest players I can only forsee more upset in the dressing room

No not specifically 24 year olds but I mean failed striker transfers. Could also bring Thierno Barry, Beto, Evanilson, Mathys Tel, Kolo Muani, Joshua Zirkzee, Benjamin Sesko... all players that are the rule for the valuation of strikers in this league. Thiago is an exception to that rule in that he has outperformed his price tag.

Describing the club as a "basketcase" is a whole different debate. Not one I completely agree with. But if you're a player for a team bottom of the league, guaranteed championship football - why would you not want a potential European trophy this season with a young and exciting squad? A London club where your value as a player will grow and hopefully you'll get a big move, should you fill your potential...? Seems like an easy decision to me.
