I think we are missing the golden days of Dougie picking up players from the Championship and Turkish mid table and transforming them into premier league stars.

Now we are just like everyone else.
 
The new manager (?) might want a contrast between Nketiah and whoever comes in. Or even plan to play them together. Or he's got something on Hobbs. Who knows?

Ah the tinted dougie specs …he signed as many turds as he did gems.

TBF, last season there really were'nt nobody better than Jean-Phillipe Mateta.

This season, carrying an injury seems the most logical explanation for why he looks like a jaded, out of shape donkey.

JSL for me seems a better bet to a least put more of a shift in than JPM. He's younger and should have more of a point to prove as well (where I fear JPM feels as though he's made his point and now wants his move).

So two big blokes, neither of whom seem to be tucking them away on a regular basis. I'd rather the younger, hungrier and fitter one with a point to prove if I'm honest. The money is beyond ridiculous, but that's just PL football these days.
 
You can only buy what is available, Abrahams is getting 140k a week at Villa, Larsen 95k at Wolves, i expect him to be on the same at Palace
 
So we are signing another striker who doesn't score? £50 million?

I'm not sure what is going on at the club right now, but I don't like it.

As a no goals a season striker like Mateta at the moment He really is boom to bust.
 
If he's signed and registered before midday tomorrow he could well start against Forest on Sunday. Could be interesting. Probably won't get to see it as due to be on a cruise ship between Tenerife and Madeira on Sunday. Have to hope Sport 24 will show the game on the cabin TV.

Yet most of the fans from the bottom team in the league for whom he can't get in the team say he is none of those things. Honestly think we'll be a laughing stock of a club if we pay that price. I'm already embarrassed by it tbh and hoping that any deal falls through
 
His high Price tag is probably more down to the remaining time left on his contract tbh. it runs til 2030 with an option for another 12 months. Long contracts always inflate transfer prices, and are never taken into account.

Its a like for like isn't it ? Get 35 for Mateta 45 for this lad means this lad has cost us 10 . Not bad seeing as we will be replacing a player that doesn't want to be here with one that does

I think thats not a bad deal ,we know how limited JPM is ,just think when Larsen through on goal shoots straight at the keeper , what fun we will be able to have on here 🙂
