Johnson, McNeil

I remember hearing or reading that he liked a lot of width and his teams get a lot of crosses into the box.

I'm not sure that he normally plays 3 at the back either and that's why we're being linked with midfielders as he plays with 3.
As I posted on another thread earlier ;

Formation & Shape: Frequently utilizes a 3-4-2-1 structure that morphs into a solid back-five or 3-4-3 shape out of possession. Earlier in his career at Lyon, he favored a fluid 4-3-3, but adapted effectively to a back-three system at RC Lens

Oh dear, maybe he will be the first manager to make it work, in the Premier league, i hope so.

No we haven't.

As I said before creative financing.

There is no such thing as a swap deal go and get educated on contract laws.

The other thing you are coming out with about OG bullying SP is ridiculous but what we expect from you this is the sort of thing you come out with complete nonsense like you expect from a child.
Two fellow members have provided you with the rules surrounding swap deals.

The EPL has regulations surrounding swap deals. They would not bother drawing those up for something that doesn't exist.

Every credible source states this as a swap deal. No money has changed hands. Two players have swapped clubs.

They would not conduct the medicals simultaneously, complete the deals at the exact same moment, and announce the deals at the exact same moment, and in the manner they did, if they were not intrinsically linked.

As we already know, clubs that agree a swap deal have to see eye to eye on both players values, stated as part of the deal, and that has to be approved as Fair Market Value by the Premier League in accordance with it's ruling on Swap Deals.

You are taking a specific law that applies to certain industries and applying it to one where it does not.

-- As for you bringing up the comment regards OG and SP and Jan spending, it was not me that made it but it is clearly not 100% a serious comment. It's a throwaway comment, kind of joking but based in reality, that which we know about being that OG did throw a tantrum and that created an impression that doesn't just effect the OG-SP relationship but SP's image and therefore relationship with any prospective future manager. It will have registered in his thinking as it would have with anybody. That doesn't in reality mean any bullying occurred, of course. It's a lot more of a subtlety than the comment that you're throwing back to me but it wasn't intended to be torn apart like that.

Maresca used it to great effect at Chelsea, as did Conte.

Guardiola used it at times at City and was effective.

Amorim was definitely a mixed bag... but there were times when he got it to work.
Conte used Alonso and Moses in his 3-4-3, NcNeil and Pino would be a similar set up 😊

Last time it's like speaking to a child with a learning disorder with you.

There is no such thing as a player swap.

You can claim all you like there is and media outlet pushing it they don't even do research they feed people like you in all different categorizes a load of BS and you lap it up.

Go and read Fifa regulations it's clear in there separate transactions have to been done for each player well that is not a swap is it.

As I said before this is basic contract law and no football is not exempt from them as you tried to claim

The Premier League regulations have no mention of any swap deals or a straight player swap which means they go by Fifa on this matter.

Alonso's Chelsea sure looked good in it last night.
I didn't see that game. Judging by the scoreline they are having no issues going forward, but were there any problems at the back? How did Max get on?

Of the first round of fixtures I've seen Everton vs Palace, Arsenal vs Coventry, Man Utd vs Hull, and Man City vs Bournemouth.

Our own opener was the worst of the viewing, and really disappointing.

Hull were decent, and Arsenal. Man City were lucky to win late against a Bournemouth team that dominated. The only game that wasn't a surprise to me was Arsenal.

I could say the same about you grumpymort. I'm not the only person on here that has tried to point the regulations out to you.

If you still can't get them through your head in spite of a barrage of blaring obvious proof than I have nothing else to say to you. Bury your head once more.

The front 3 of Palmer, Rogers, Pedro looked very dangerous. I think the sort of 'wide 10' role is perfect for Palmer and Rogers. Their version of Olise and Eze!

Lacroix looked comfortable as the central centre-back and even chipped in with a decent assist - a solid debut.

Fulham look like they're going to be entertaining but I thought they approached the game quite naively - they were far too open against an attack with that much quality. I don't know if Arbeloa is going to be pragmatic enough to cope in this league.

He has very limited managerial experience.

I thought he was at fault for one of Fulham’s goals

You need a back three that are strong, aware, mobile and good distributors of the ball. Hence Man U and indeed our issue. As Lanzo says - we could use more attacking wing backs. Our back three would go to wide three in possession but go close together to defend with the wing backs pressing. I do get the feeling it's the style Sage wants. A moveable three, rather than the very static three we see. And the attacks down the wings - either overload there or have nearly a genuine front three. Would need to be fluid, attacking and very pressing. Can be counter, can be possession - really depending on how direct we go. We probably do have the proper wide cover these days, but conversely our back three have taken quite a step back in strength and quality.
