I'm sure you're not suggesting that Israel are deliberately targeting civilians and withholding aid in order get what they want - that would obviously be a war crime, and we know Israel don't commit those.

I take your point. They should have done that ages ago. But Netanyahu seemed intent on slaughter , before any negotiations had begun.
Killing Palestinian civilians is revenge, not progression. And it makes the Israeli Government no better than terrorists. And 50,000 dead is just Genocide

What we know is that Hamas made a military terrorist incursion on October the 7th. They murdered raped and took civilians hostage.

That's correct, and we can all agree that it was an abhorrent terror attack.

Since then, there have been considerably more 'military incursions' and considerably more civilians murdered and taken hostage - I condemn those actions on all sides.

I do also understand your point. And respect it. War is horrible and innocents die needlessly. Let's just hope something can be done to bring some sort of peace or stability to the region.

Handing over the remaining hostages would go a long way and then Netanyah would not have much legs to stand on to continue the bombardment.
 
When people are elected, they don't always do the will of the people. I'm pretty certain that the Palestinian's voted HAMAS for a better life for themselves, not to go on a killing spree in Israel.
I'm sure very few people who voted for Blair, backed his plans for an Iraq invasion. Most people think of him as a war criminal, and Bush Jnr too.

And there seem to be a significant number of Israeli's who are protesting against the Israeli military action.

And as always, other Governments are in the background, seeing what they can get out of the situation for themselves.
Carpet-bombing areas of Northern Ireland might have been considered an option to get terrorists, but negotiation was always the better option. And some former terrorists may still be in government. Unpalatable to many, but for the better good of society everyone has a democratic voice.

**And just to be absolutely clear. Anyone who killed civilians deserves to go to trial for war crimes/crimes against humanity. Although personally, I would ultimately see them executed, if guilty.

It was always the plan. It’s just been executed in stages to try to manage world opinion. Now the world has got tired and is consumed by Trump’s antics they can press on without attracting too much attention.

Expect settlers to arrive in Gaza soon.

Does any other country appoint itself to this type of role, which is probably endangering the hostages not helping them, as well as contributing to thousands of civilian deaths?

Could be deep water ahead as we are ICJ members but Israel and USA are lawless rogue states.

We could have just minded our own business, acted in accordance with humanitarian law, flown in aid from our Cyprus bases.

This war / action is not a direct threat to the UK so like the Ukraine we should but out. If the Israelis need assistance let the yanks help them out.

It's not our problem but no doubt we will end up getting dragged in somewhere along the line.

Agreed, other than humanitarian aid, we should have nothing to do with foreign wars that hold no intrinsic value.

Indeed, all the Ukraine or this middle eastern war do is impose costs and threats on us.

RAF flights more likely assessing the effectiveness of ordnance in 'combat conditions', to check accuracy , damage levels, etc, etc.

All useful stuff for the UK's impoverished arms industry so they can sell more weapons.

Maybe the arms industry could start funding some aid, or re-building work. After they've paid dividends to their shareholders, of course.
