Ismaïla Sarr

someone recently mentioned that over the last 500 appearances our CM has scored 5 goals - so assuming 2 CM per game that's 1 goal in every 50 games. Not per player BTW, per CM pairing.

Not sure where this stat came from but it feels accurate - guessing when we played 3 in midfield the 10 (usually Eze) will be excluded
It’s not just that Hughes and Lerma don’t score when playing together but no one else does. In fact the creativity across the whole team becomes Zero.

In my opinion Lerma should not play in midfield anymore unless it’s a midfield 3 or we are trying to see out a lead. Hughes is now a squad player and as with Lerma his strengths do not include creativity or goal scoring.

I hope Doucoure finds some fitness and form because once he does, he is a player who can slot into our midfield without a drop in standard.

Clearly a nonsense statement given the goals in the last 10 years or so from the likes of Luka (non-pens), Jimmy Mac, Gallagher, Schluppy and 3 now from Pino. It's true that the last 3 years or so has seen a dearth of league goals from our CMs but much of that was down to Glasner's system.

Didn't think Sarr offered much at all last night which is disappointing. Hopefully its just him getting up to speed with the others and he just needs a bit of time but he was miles off the Sarr of last season.

hardly a surprise given it was the first time he's played more than 20mins this season. It will take time if he is able to find form again while with us

He only played 40 mins last night. He was the attacking player I rated higher than anyone last season. He didn't even look interested last night. Hopefully this is not a continuation of his sulk. He's only hurting himself if so. Theres talk of him extending his contract so we'd all like to see the old Sarr back.
ATM its thank God for Pino and Kamada. Goal wise they are starting to carry the team.

although very good, doucoure is not creative either whereas both wharton and timber look to get the ball forward.

Will Sarr start on Sunday?
From a purely tactical point I would start him as Brighton do leave space at the back for pacy players to exploit.

Yeah but do you drop kamada or Pino? Our two stand out players so far this season in my opinion. Or perhaps play him up top?

He seemed rusty on Thursday night and last seasons sarr would have had at least 1 goal.

With Henderson out and Tomiyasu and Mateta at best only being ready for the bench, I see two places up for grabs.

The first is the 3rd central defender which is between Lerma and Ahanor.
I think Sage will go with Lerma for his experience and aerial strength in both boxes.
Personally I would go with Ahanor who has more pace and is a more natural third defender, but it's a close call between the two.

The second is which 2 are selected between Sarr, Pino and Kamada.
I think Sage will stick with Kamada and Pino, but personally I would choose Sarr and Kamada.
This is not a reflection on Pino who has had decent games recently, it's more a tactical decision based on the threat that Sarr can offer for this particular fixture.
Pino will still get plenty of games.
Kamada has to start for his diligence, reading of the game and ability to supplement the midfield.

I think you may be right and Sage will stick with Pina Colada and we'll probably play as if still on the beach.
