The worst clickbait in the history of ‘journalism’! Makes you wonder if it’s all a load of old bollocks. Still a coincidence that Sarr missed training last week though 🤔.

Just worked it out how he become confused he thought spammers was playing us because Charlton translated spells Palace , and he had a old program that said they play at selhurst , and Glasner is manager of a team in red so thought that was us and someone told him we lost , see easy mistake

I hope the gossip is wrong also. For me the real problem is often the player's agent. Taking Sarr, for example, the agent will get £3m-£6m from the transfer (assuming sold for £60m) and a further £100k-£200k pa of his salary (usually paid once a year by the buying club - nice!).

I have visions of a Danny de Vito lookalike, loads of jewellery and a big fat cigar. So it's unlikely he'd want a long term servant (eg Matt le Tissier) whose transfer value diminishes (potentially to zero) with age.

Of course we don't see everything. Apart from the player's ambition there are "softer" factors such as family, language and religion.

Ah well no doubt all will be revealed later this week. In the meantime, as a Palace fan for over 60yrs I am reminded of that famous quote "It's the hope that kills you".
You do know that agents get paid when they negotiate a new contract with existing club too, not just for transfers.

I remember Man U published in their accounts (when a PLC) that van Nisterooy's agent got paid a cool £1m for negotiating a contract extension (presumably 5% of the total value).

These days there are many ways an agent takes money out of the game - albeit transfers must be the most profitable.

As for Sarr i saw a photo of a kid getting his autograph at the training ground gate yesterday (assuming it was taken yesterday!). So Sarr was at the club - whether training or getting treatment who knows

Because the Players Union negotiated this many years ago. I think a 2 week wage suspension is the most clubs can do and even then the PFA will be bitching.
To be fair there are countless stories over the years about clubs treating players they no longer need like absolute s*** in order to force them out.

Contracts tend matter most to the party who wants to hold the other to it, and not much at all to the one who wishes they hadn't signed it.
