So he has no option other than to do a deal that will have to recognise Irans sovereignty, and that will mean a massive failure of one of Trumps original goals- regime change with him having a role in the choice of the new leader.

The Saudis caused the Houthi problem largely by bombing Yemen for years. Britain, France and US also bombed the Houthis. Best thing to do with the Houthis is a deal, but I suspect the Saudis don't want it. The Houthis have captured large amounts of US weapons from incompetent Saudi forces.

'Finishing the job' would mean another Iraq as even if the US could defeat and overthrow the regime they would have to stay to defend the new regime.

I think Trump thinks he can limit troops on the ground to just keeping the strait open. I think limiting that engagement will be difficult but not impossible if you can economically squeese the Iranians into a deal.

But essentially you will be punishing the population who are pretty desperate as it is.....They aren't going to be viewed as liberators.

These are all bad options and they all flow from the original bad decision.

Sure.....I think it's the best play from a set of sh1t options.....much better if just the threat of it works.

He's going to get body bags when the Strait was in no danger before the war.

Afterwards he has to keep the threat of keeping oil from Iran, in case they break any possible agreement.

It's all terrible.....well for the US anyway.

One other point I am not hearing anything about is the severe drought that was affecting Tehran a couple of months ago which had forced rationing…I am assuming this hasn’t improved much since.

I should imagine it's an understatement.
