Iran

The ceasefire is because of the deal; it’s just a ploy to get breathing space whilst Trump reconfigures his next move, which I think will be to take Kharg Island. So expect a sudden event that negates the deal and the island comes under the control of the US. For every $2 million fee charge, $3 million of Iranian oil is plundered.
Is this your opinion or from the gutter press.

America could destroy Iran anytime they wanted. This was a limited attack on specific targets.
All Iran have achieved by firing off missiles at its neighbours is to strengthen support for US action.

Trump was never going to erase Iran. The fact that you think that demonstrates a lack of understanding of the situation. What you can believe is that America has the capability to do exactly that if it chose to.
In reality, there is far more to be gained from a compliant Iran with a sensible government who see the benefits of mutual cooperation with the West. Right now they are all but defenceless against attacks from their enemies such as Israel. Drones and missiles won't stop the damage they could inflict.
Hrolf since you've raised your banner for Reform you have turned into a rightwing Wisbech.
I find out the sex of my second child in a couple of hours & honestly mate I can't be bothered & don't want to be dragged down into some backwards & forwards nonsense.

Has there been regime change? No
Has the US freed the people of Iran? No
Has Iran handed over its enriched uranium? No
Did Iran charge a toll before the war? No
Do they now? Yes - it's worth roughly $60,000,000,000 a year.
Could the Houthis blockade the red sea? Yes
The previous Houthis blockade proved impossible to defeat & the Americans eventually just paid them off to stop it.
Iran had 12,000,000 civilians volunteer to fight the Americans if they invaded, this is on top of roughly 1.3m IRGC & Iranian military personnel.
The pro Iranian government in Iraq is struggling to contain the majority Shia population who wanted to rise up & fight the Americans.
As proven by this war NATO strategy is woefully out of date & we have learnt absolutely nothing from the Russian/Ukraine war, please also see the Israeli military who haven't even discovered cope cages yet.
The US public is not ready to see marines in 4k & real time being blown up by fpv drones.

The US & Israel have failed at every single objective in this war.
The US will rearm & try again.

Firstly, congratulations. I hope all goes well.

The trouble is that according to Trump opponents, he had no plan. so what plan are you referring to?

If he did have a plan, which I am sure the US military would have, we don't know what that was. We only know what the talking heads say and what Trump wants you to think.

As you say. America has the advantage of going back in and bombing Iran again and again. Personally I think this is just a delay while further plans are developed based on recent intelligence.

If you are referring to Nick who tried to shut down this site, then you should have banned him on day one. He is as close to a raving loon as it gets.
The problem with a no rules, free speech site is that you have to tolerate all kinds of behaviour and opinions. I'm not sure you were the right person to do that.

Anyway, back to topic. Did you think WW3 would start when Russia invaded Ukraine?
Not that it is back to topic, but do you mean after all its security guarantees were ignored? And by invasion do you mean the illegal coup in 2014, the Russian response to that, or the reaction to exercises along its border in 2022? You'll have to be more specific if you want to go off topic like this.

I do often wonder what people like you would say if it was Russia doing what the US has been doing all round the world recently. It was bad enough before.

Iran just dropped its 10-point response to the US 15-point peace plan.

1. Guarantee that Iran will not be attacked again

Not sure how that can happen over and above just words.

2. Permanent end to the war, not just a ceasefire

Similar to above.

3. End to Israeli strikes in Lebanon

That could happen naturally depending upon time scales.

4. Lifting of all US sanctions on Iran

This is an interesting one and will largely decide things.

5. End to all regional fighting against Iranian allies

Unrealistic.

6. In return, Iran would open the Strait of Hormuz

...

7. Iran would impose a $2 million toll per ship passing through

8. Iran would split those fees with Oman

9. Iran would set clear rules for safe passage through the strait

10. Iran would use the collected fees for reconstruction instead of paying reparations

This would punish people like us for Trump's war.....the US would mainly get away with this.....but it still rises energy costs for them with food and so on.

A situation where we are the ones paying for the destruction visited upon Iran is ....Not acceptable and personally this would turn my mind to military action......it's blackmail.

Trump’s deadline for a peace deal with Iran is 25 hours away.

Yeah I don't know how accurate this 10 point list is though, I lifted it from a telegram group that I subscribe to. Is 2 million a ship realistic? I guess it depends on the cargo really. Is the strait still closed?

Illegal coup lol

The game of global chess is played by both sides. I don't know who is right or wrong in each move but what I do know is whose side I'm on and why. I have said this numerous times to people who defend the enemy.
I believe one should uphold the principles and way of life of the country you live in. Ironically, sometimes that involves supporting stuff that is unprincipled.

I understand why you defend Russia, but to my memory, I have never seen you express a desire to live there. There seems to be a minority of people in this country who are Russophiles, but they are happy to enjoy the benefits of living in Britain. That doesn't work for me.

I support the USA and I would happily live there in principle. One of my brothers does live there.

No I would happily live in Russia and we own a dacha there. They have great summers and it is cheap to live there, despite being just outside Moscow. In an ideal world we would live there in the summer and Cyprus in the winter and just visit broken britain to watch Palace.

I wish you all the luck. I'm sure Putin has a place for you in his depleted army. 😉

So when he agrees to a ceasefire, he has bottled it, and if he had bombed Iran he is crazy?

I think we can see a pattern in your opinions. I think it's called TDS.
Look Hrolf, I don’t like Trump, I think he’s a terrible person and a dick, but I’m generally more concerned with what’s happening in the world that affects me and my pension and savings and well being, and primarily in fact Palace, golf and cycling.
Unfortunately the last 5 weeks have been dominated by a complete s*** show down to Trump and Netanyahu that has caused havoc. Personally I didn’t see an issue with Iran as it was. I don't live in Iran or Israel and I’m catholic not Muslim. It’s bad that they killed their protesters but s*** happens all over the world. Not my problem.
I go through lots of news outlets a day including I might add Fox News and GB news to gauge opinion and check sense reporting and I can sleep safely knowing that my opinions on what has happened here are well and truly in the majority and your dogged support of Trump and everything he has done in this war in this war as being great is in the minority.
I get it, you’re a big fan, I’m not a big fan. If everyone who isn’t a big fan of Trump has ‘TDS’ then it must be an affliction of pandemic proportions!

What I see is a lot of people not really knowing what they are talking about and a lot of people jumping on the Trump hate bandwagon like it's a badge of honour.
I don't claim to an expert on world affairs, but I do see people who claim they are talking a lot of twaddle, either because they are politically biased or just winging it.

I am no great lover of Trump, but he is on the right side of politics as far as I'm concerned. He is also great entertainment. His Pearl Harbour joke was worthy of another term in office alone.

Seriously. Don't believe all you see on TV. It's mostly bullshit.
