Immigration

Why do so many of you speak like this 🤣

It's dropped by almost 50% in a year - that's incredibly steep. You know this as well as I do, and so does everyone else.

Does that deal with the problem already here? No. And no I am not suggesting we start deporting innocent people before you jump to conclusions.

If there's less claims there's less people going into the system, obviously.

I think once you get to just outright disbelieving official figures, there is little basis for discussion.
Having worked for the HO and Border Force for over 30 years, please forgive me if I do not believe official figures, often manipulated….fact

So what are you suggesting?
I actually think it would be fair to offer people a chance. Register everyone properly when they enter. Have strict interviews/ investigations within an agreed timeframe. Then if problematic, or even not supporting themselves, unfortunately time to go. No matter where you're from.
As for asylum seekers. Simply keep them safe from harm. No other supports. Give them immediate leave to work. Similar scenario.
There are countless solutions the government won't consider because they are ruled by ideology. People can probably think of fairer solutions than mine.
Anyone not admitting where they're from or impersonating a child: immediate removal to where they originated on the journey.
Any criminal activity of a certain threshold, leave to remain for them and all dependants revoked.
Is that fascist?

Why the f*** do you think I care about 'deflecting' anything? Are you so self-important you think your incredibly low-level posts on a Crystal Palace forum are impacting the national conversation?
So now you want to make it personal. Nice try.

I don't think anything we do will impact on anything except maybe at the ballot box.

My position is exactly this.
A red list of countries who's citizens are banned from entering the UK. Regarding some countries it simply not worth the risks that come with it.

Mass deportations of illegals, criminals, piss takers and spongers.
They are guests in our country, they have a duty to behave to the highest standards in which they are a benefit to our country. It is not our duty to take in the world's problems. We are allowed to be extremely selective in who we decide to let in and more importantly stay.

Something that serves our interests, not destroys them.

As a group of countries, the UK, a country with is traditions, heritage, geographical position and position in world politics.
Has any other country run everything into the ground over the last, say 50 years, a multitude of political no hopers from all parties, to become the cesspit it has become, are there other country's that have gone backwards so fast, or are the UK in a league of their own, maybe France?

I don't think those measures have much material impact on population size in the short term, which is what I was questioning, but I appreciate the response.

What does the bit in bold mean? They've halved immigration in a year - ideology didn't seem to stand in the way of that. What ideology are they ruled by?

Sweden, Spain and Italy are up there. Probably not as bad as us but no surprises the political landscape is shifting to the right in Spain and Sweden, Italy is already there. People are well and truly fed up with this progressive libtard ideology.

I think much of this sounds emotionally satisfying but becomes much harder when you turn them into actual policy - how do you define a 'piss taker' etc.

I don't disagree with the sentiment per se, but I don't think those are enforceable policy ideas.

I believe this country can be fixed and I do not believe this country is a lost cause. It won't be easy but nobody ever said it would be.

I don't believe so either, but I also don't think changes to our immigration policy alone are going to materially improve people's lives the way they seem to think. I think the last 12m supports that.

We have far bigger national issues, in my opinion.
