I'll write something about Robinson after I heard his speech in Southampton.
I also have my issues about Robinson, however this needs to be said.
There's a speech Roosevelt gave in 1910 that included a section about the 'man in the arena'.
Essentially the message was this: the guy who sticks his head up and leads will always get criticised......mostly by those without the balls to take the slings and arrows that come at them by leading......Critics are two a penny, leaders are rare because having the balls required to tell the system it's wrong is rare.....and a lot of money will be thrown against you....rules will be changed to jail you.
If you think you can do better, then do what's required......otherwise we have the leaders we have or no leaders at all.....and one is much worse for your interests than the other. I will back whoever also has my back.....if they aren't perfect....well the guy in the WW1 trench standing next to your ancestor probably wasn't perfect either....are any of us?
To my mind society gets the leaders its vices deserve....right, left and centre.
If you really care about protecting your lad or lass on the street.....Well, the Police have to follow 'protected characteristics'...in the modern day they filter out right wing people. Your lad and lass are increasingly going to be on the bottom of the list like Nowak was.
Will the politicians really make the changes after Nowak......I seriously doubt it will amount to much more than words. Change only comes with changing the people and Turkeys don't vote for Christmas.
If you don't want the worst outcomes, it's going to be the same as other ethnicity do it in diverse areas.....lads of your own culture or ethnicity (as it doesn't have to be exclusively white) joining together. There is protection in numbers. If your lad is on their own they are under more risk in diverse areas.
Robinson is telling you that.....I think it's sensible advice.
The legacy we have left for our children is a poisoned chalice.....Nowak is the latest example of that.
Don't let it be your lad or daughter next.
