The protests and violence that followed an alleged rape that never happened were the result of far-right agitators galvanising fear on our streets, writes Alan Rusbridger. They are a worrying example of the march of UK populism. fromthe Independent.​

They don't seem to be trying very hard to stop them leaving France.

I don't know why they are leaving France; I was thinking about going there on holiday in the future.

The ironic thing is, we speak out against boat crossings; but the libtards want them.

The result is death on the way and crime on arrival.

Far right agitators exist for sure. Nasty sods who want trouble. They may have contributed to the problem in Epsom.

They are however a small minority.

The constant condescending and lying liberals and virtue signalling politicians, media, police etc, are the major contributors to the problems we have on our streets - along obviously with the people committing the crimes.

Most people can see demographically who is committing the crimes in their area.

When you have undocumented migrants who may be criminals, this seeds unrest and fear.

The unrest wasn't magically put there by far right agitators. It was there in the first place.

Because of the recent history with migrant crime, it's not a surprise that people will act without thinking. They have been pushed to the limits emotionally.

looking towards the far right as a cause and not a symptom is a dead end, if we truly want to make our streets safer.

The independent reporters words will become a self fulfilling prophecy if we continue to blame the far right.

Being concerned about the way illegal immigration is happening, how we, in common with others, have struggled to find solutions and how those arriving are accommodated and behave is perfectly legitimate. Having debates, expressing opinions and even protesting are all a rightful part of our democracy.

Responding to a non event such as that in Epsom and harassing the police as they try to do their duty is not. That unrest was created by the actions of far right agitators and there is no excusing it. It must be condemned by all, whatever genuine concerns they might have.

So the Independent is right.

I think I addressed the independent piece in a balanced way and addressed many of the things you've mentioned.

However I suggest that you try and understand how some of the people in Epsom felt emotionally.

There was a time not so long ago that a situation like this would have been widely ignored. I've mentioned a few times of a near exact case in my home village of Merstham from around 4 years ago.

The people who protested have like many of us turned a blind eye to problems that needed addressing; in part because they were probably scared of being called racist - but we now have the boiling frog analogy.

The heat was not so bad for the frog a few years ago. Now the Frog is boiling and jumping around.

I guess the war in Rawanda didn't happen overnight. There was a history to it.

Foreign and their own government creating the ground for conflict.

Those people carved up each other based on other people's lies. How many people will die here because of meddling government's and their agenda'

The far right are the symptom not the cause.

People are long past wanting debates; they want action.
