I can see a poor start again this season and a struggle to match last season's achievements

The team is committed to a more conventional and OG style pre season this year in Austria.

This should enable the first team to be primed and ready to play the way the coaches want them to. Additionally we have not had lots of international tournaments with our players playing deep into the latter stages (Euros; Copa America; Olympics).

So if - and it is a big if - there is not too much disruption to the squad then I'm confident we'll be ready to go come the first league matches.

Love your username by the way fella. One of my all time obscure favourites (RIP)

Still no one going, but lots of speculation and most probably lots of tapping up by clubs which all of a sudden is illegal according to my big fat Greek owner.

OG has influence over pre season, so NO f***ing world tours with half a team and the remainder scattered all over the globe with no indication of when they will come back, and when they do, worn out and injured!

For a change we might give ourselves half a chance…

Don't know how many listened to Parish's interview with Lineker. Other than all the Europe stuff that caught the headlines, he basically confirmed departures:

"There are players that are of interest to other clubs, and we have some interest.... People want to progress their careers and part of the promise when coming to Palace is we're part of the journey.... You can't cling on to players. There will probably be some change this summer, and we'll be the first people to wish the people that go well and try to bring in some young, new talent that can do the same".

Rest is football podcast, 22ish minute mark.

Club has also said before that they think the most 'big name' departures you can manage in a summer without disrupting the team is 2.

Going by the media speculation, it's hard to think that won't be Eze and Guehi.

If we end up north of £100m for the two, and can land Diomande for ~half of that, we have to think of that as like for like and then replace Eze as best we can. Putting Franca or Esse in that role feels too much of a step right now.

Right now, there's every chance we rock up at the Community Shield with Lacroix and a Chris Richards who has been back in training for 5 minutes, as our two CB options.

He is only saying what can be taken for granted . This is the curse if you like for clubs like us. If our players make a mark they become targets for larger clubs. At the end of every season it happens.
It’s possible even now we won’t lose Eze, with his high release clause. If the money is right Guehi, could go but Palace don’t seem in any hurry over it.
It’s up to Parish, to keep right up with these things, for OG,. The man has shown what he can do , the squad that finished last season and won the cup, would have a really good chance of getting to places we haven’t been in the Premier era.
If we did lose our better players , we would need high quality replacements, admittedly , it might set us back a bit ,the story of our life. But we have OG , look what he has done, improving players in all positions, and coming up with tactical master classes. Just hope he doesn’t get pissed off if Parish leaves him short of what is needed.

He's going to say that isn't he. Saying anything different will only make key players feel trapped and want to leave.
The reality is none of them are going anywhere unless the buying club meets Palace's expectation. That means FULL release clause with most of it up front for Eze or he stays where he is and whatever the club have decided they'll take for Guehi or he sees out his contract and we accept we spent £18m but got 4 quality years that kept us in the division and won the cup. Not a bad return is it?

Yes, it's a good return looking back in time.

Looking forward in time, then unfortunately if we're looking to replace anything close to like for like, that's going to be quite a sizeable portion of the club's £190m/year revenue.

We end up in one of three boats

a) see some movement in the coming days, key players are pretty much sorted for the start of the season
b) everyone goes into contract run down mode, requiring some very shrewd buying in future but ultimately a permanent transfer deficit
c) do what we did last year and sort most of it out late on in the window, accepting a bumpy start

Isn't the key to this Glasner? He's like a Ted Lasso that knows what he's doing.

I can see a lot of players gambling to play under him for another season for the unity and success he's created?
