Hughesy

Our little Vinnie Jones - always just a gnat's whisker away from his next card, but two assists speak volumes.

our Roy Keane/Sergio Ramos..........a lot of tackles won, persistently in the face of the opposition and always at the pertinent part of the pitch - where the action is happening , and also a lot of Cards. It always frightens me when he is already on one yellow.

The Beard makes him look like something out of 300 Spartans.

I’m going to say it… middle should be Hughes and Wharton. Lerma can feel hard done by but I think Hughes and Wharton deserves a run of games.

Looks right but what about Doucoure if he's back to fitness? Devenny has done pretty well too.
Since Hughes does tend to tire the high pressing/closing down will probably lead to a few chances off the bench. We have genuine options so we might as well use them.

He looks like a naughty school boy running around out there, but the oppositions midfield certainly know he’s around

Unlike some of the fair weather scribes here I've always rated him. Might not have the sublime skills of an Eze or Olise, but he always gives the proverbial 100%, is a good and visionary passer of the ball and, like Munoz, appears to have a positive effect on teammates. Yes he collects yellows but he's not dirty, just sometimes overenthusiastic. Well done OG for backing him and, I suspect, helping develop him. Good test for vs the seaweed as the midfield will be a battle zone methinks.

Well done you👍

Very reminiscent of Nobby Stiles,a smallish midfielder who packs a punch and does the dirty work.
He is not "smallish" though. He is our tallest central Midfielder at 6'1". Only 5 outfieldplayers in the squad are taller - Sarr Richards Mateta Lecroix & Chabolah!

I must admit I was never a fan of Hughes under Hodgson , always seemed to be the guy that lost his man , didn't or couldn't track back ect . Maybe Roys system was just too rigid for him .

Glasners style seems to suit him better a more fluid system where he can be forgiven for the odd lapse of concentration . Been very impressed with his contribution this season ,probably our most improved player in the last 12 months and will give Glasner a selection headache as to who plays with Wharton

Best player on the park today ..........Who's he to Hughesy ! .
It makes you wonder just how many players out there have the potential to be something great but it never gets seen because they don't ever find "their" manager.

I don't think anybody was particularly enamoured with him under the previous regime and he could very easily have been sold on to a relegation rival or Championship team to fade into obscurity.
