How high can we finish ?

I know every team has their what ifs and if my dad was a woman he’d have been my mum and all that, but if we’d have beaten Everton and Brentford at home we’d be in 7th now and a European spot.
Obviously it all depends on if we can keep up our current form, but if we can why not 7th place?
Its just a shame we’ve got a ridiculously long time without a league game now that might spoil our momentum

I would say this season represents our best chance of Europe since we came up, if you ignore the fact that we were ten mins away from winning the FA Cup.

Could definitely win the cup or get in through the league if we carry on. I reckon we'll get 8th.
Apropos 'Europe' I recall Burnley qualifying for the Europa League after finishing 7th in the PL.
Burnley lost all but 1 of their PL games which followed a European tie and they finished 15th in the PL that season.

I doubt if any team has got to Europe (or will ever do so) with Everton and Brentford doing the double over them. It will help if Liverpool beat Newcastle in the Carabao cup but, after Southampton, we only play teams higher than us in the league. I'd say our chances of qualifying through the league are about as good as winning the Cup i.e. >10/1. We are getting results but not playing to the level of the end of last season

I'd prefer going all out for the cup forget the league now it's over now.

I mean we're only 8 points off fifth...

We still play Man City (fifth - 8 points ahead), Brighton (sixth - 7 points ahead), Newcastle (ninth - 5 points ahead) and Bournemouth (eighth - 5 points ahead).

Could look at it as a tough run in. Or could look at it as if we continue this run and beat those teams, we'll gain huge ground.

Indeed.

I tend to think that we are (give or take a place or 2) about where we'll finish.

But as you said, the harder run, gives us more of a chance to reel them in.

Either way, I just hope we give it a bloody good go!

I think most fans knew that the end of last season was a freak and we were never going to hit those highs again, the stars aligned as they say. We had a run of games against jaded teams who had long seasons of European and domestic cup runs where as we didn’t and we were revitalised by a new manager, two superb new signings and players like Eze and Olise coming back from injury.

You both already stated what I was thinking. After Southampton we likely will be not favoured to win in 7 of the remaining 9 matches. That being said, you can view most of them as 6 pointers, win a few of them and Europe isn't too distant a possibility.

Don't see why we wont do it again.

Save this season the player returning from injury is Wharton and the invigorated player (who is like a returning player) is Sarr.

The difference I suppose is we are playing some clubs with somethin to play for. It ain't all beach wear.

Long mid season breaks invariably result in a loss by a rusty lackluster Palace against a team annoyingly refreshed by their break. If we beat Fulham (with the Colombians not long off the plane) and Southampton, then why not carry on the run?

I guess the knowledge that we are practically mathematically safe means (like last season when we went on that run) we can now throw the shackles off and play. Attacking both the cup and the league (position) is not something Palace are used to. Its usually one or the other. We'll need the whole squad to play their part if we are to progress well in both but why not? If we continue the form we are in I can see us reaching Wembley. Once you get there anything can happen. As for the league? 7th or 8th would be amazing. Right now I'd settle for a top half finish.
