Harvey Elliott

I listened to the radio commentary of the Wembley game. The commentator knows Elliot and after the England 21 win he interviewed him. Elliot's main concern then was lack of first team appearances at Liverpool he is not likely to get much game time with their new signings.

So my guess is that he is keen for a move if we can agree a fee.

Or a loan with obligation to sign next season! Hopefully the scousers would give us a good deal especially considering the last 2 we signed off then!

Elliott looked overweight and out of shape when he came on on Sunday.

I’d certainly be happy for him to fill one of our loan places for the season however OG and our conditioning team would need to get him in shape pretty sharpish.

The issue with Elliott is finding the best position to get the most out of his talent. He's an excellent passer of the ball and creative, but he's quite small and he's not the quickest. If £40 million is what Liverpool want then that seems steep for a player who's struggled to hold down a spot in any position. £25-30 million would seem more reasonable. Most likely he'll probably end up at Spam or Spuds, or a league where his size is less of an issue.

Apparently he’s the same height as Foden, Mbeumo, Gibbs-White, Rico Lewis and a few others who have done ok.

I just doubt there is any truth in this.

Unless I'm mistaken, he usually plays pretty central. And regardless I'm not sure he's got the speed or power to play out wide.

Not sure we need to be spending what little funds we do have on a CM that certainly wont be first choice.

He's certainly good enough for our threadbare first team squad who have a European adventure ahead of them this season.
But not at the price being bandied around. If he's that good, Liverpool would want to keep him but they clearly don't see him as having a future at Anfield. But if they halve their fee to £20m then he would be a decent option for rotation.

Yep 100% c.40m is crazy.

Referring back to something Parish said the other day about fees, you can see what he means. 40m for Elliott, 37m for Omari Hutchinson, 43m for Jacob Ramsey, 52m for Madueke. They are ridiculous fees for that caliber of player.

I rate Elliott highly and would love to see him in our squad. I’m not usually a fan of swap deals but on this occasion can see something working with him and Guehi.
