He did. So this is responding to political pressure rather than a genuine desire to seek the truth. I doubt if it will reveal anything new and all it will do is stir up controversy and anger which could in turn divert police resources. Scapegoats will be sought and a blame game played when it has already been acknowledged that the original strategy did not work. Putting more pressure on overworked and under resourced police and social services without recognising the limitations that they have serves no one.

Why do you persist when the facts are right in front of you. Get a grip
In my view there were insufficient prosecutions, insufficiently heavy sentencing etc.
Those whose negligence and corruption led to so many of these attacks need to ne held accountable.
i.e the police who found a minor being abused by a gang of men , men not arrested and police claimed consensual sex, which is not possible with a minor. Those police should be charged, punished, pension gone. the lot. There will also be culpable social workers etc etc.
Personally I doubt the enquiry will do much to punish the guilty, it is just what Starmer thinks will delay the enemies at the gate.

We will indeed see. I don’t doubt for a moment that errors of the kind you describe will be revealed. If you turn over enough stones anywhere there is muck to be found. That’s the nature of human beings. They are imperfect. Put them under stress, down grade their importance and pay and you get some poor quality people making bad decisions.
We aren’t turning over stones everywhere though. Just this one.
The kind of story you relate is awful but if you looked deep enough it wouldn’t be found to be that unusual. That’s not excusing it. It’s just being realistic. Shining a light on one specific area when the whole system is creaking is not going to make much difference. Only providing greater resources and prioritising it will and doing that when budgets are under pressure is really unlikely.
I’m sure the victims and their families whole heartedly concur with you 🤣. We are turning over stones here because it has been a national scandal that very little has been done about it , which, it has now been confirmed, was mainly due to the ethnicity of the perpetrators, a fact I believe you have dismissed on more than one occasion
