Grooming gangs

No they were never liberal, they did whatever they could to remain in power in order to further line their pockets and those of the wealthiest.

I fear reform because they won't fix the issue but will shaft what remains of our crumbling system, nothing will increase the wealth gap faster, and they'll use your emotions to get there.

Fascism always arrives as your friend with solutions
Fascism?
Come on Spindle.

The current government is the most 'fascist' we have ever had. This country is going to hell in a hand basket thanks to the liberal left.

The wealth gap might get bigger, but the 'poor' are wealthier than ever before. Human nature does not do equality, only greed.

Next you will be telling us that communism is the answer.

Hahahaha. Oh my. The world some of you lot inhabit is wild.

Todays BBC online coverage :
"The far-right anti-Islam activist Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, better known as Tommy Robinson, has urged the Court of Appeal to let him out of prison early because he says it is making him ill.
In a highly unusual challenge to a sentence, Yaxley-Lennon's lawyers said his segregation from other prisoners at HMP Woodhill in Milton Keynes was damaging his mental health in ways the judge who sentenced him did not anticipate." (BBC website 11.4.25)

Note the provocative language used to describe TR/SYL. Far-Right Anti-Islam

The only derogatory words I've heard Tommy Robinson use, were directed at Child-abusers, who happened to be Asian. And those who concealed the crimes.

Same with Tate. He's always the "self proclaimed misogynist" but if you try and find where he's actually said this you can't. I'm not a supporter of either of these 2 characters, my avatar is for fun, but pointing out this vernacular that the BBC like to use

lol. Nuts.

From the man who thinks that Reform are 'fascists'.

We are living with extremism right now. Maybe you aren't old enough to remember Britain before it was taken over by loons.

I wouldn't say the current government is the most fascist we have ever had but it is certainly implementing far more right wing measures than the last few Tory governments. Also, not a squeak out of the comrades - imagine their incandescent outrage if the 'wicked Tories' had abolished winter fuel payments and targeted other benefits (not to mention retaining the two-child benefit cap and the freezing of income tax thresholds). Perhaps the comrades can tell us when to expect the coming of the Socialist Utopia?

I've said what I think reform would be on that other new thread polling for a GE

The only socialist worth listening to is that former broker Gary Stevenson. He's right, nobody has money, the rich have it and are hoovering more. And Reform will only help them.

That wealth needs to be taken, but it won't be, and eventually there will be revolt against it. Oh, that's called Marxism go figure

Had it occurred to you that people have money for a reason?

We would all like more, but wishing to rob the rich to give to the poor like some latter day Robin Hood on drugs smacks of envy.

Perhaps we should make all the immigrant tax dodgers pay up or stop wasting money housing boat people.

Sure I'd like to tax the 1% of people who have most of the money, but perhaps they are the price we pay to make the world go around.

At midnight, you could divide up all the money equally between people. Within a few days large disparities in wealth would be evident. (I notice you ignored the actual content of my post by the way!)

He does address fundamental problems with western capitalism.....However, I don't think his solutions make much sense....There's no successful way of 'taxing' the rich...The only sad feckers who stick around for that are the middle class......You want to take the rich's sh1t? You'd need a violent overthrow, and god knows no one wants that....😀

(Just to be clear I don't actually want that, but I do think that the consequences of the choices the elites made (which was made by both the left and neoliberals) mean that societal breakdown is eventually inevitable)

I think that Reform are nothing like 'fascism', but I do agree with you that Reform will do nothing that solves the problem in real terms.....We all know they are Thatcherites and Tory 2.0....In my heart I feel it's a solution from a different era that doesn't fit the reality of the country now.

However, of the likely candidates it's the best on offer......Unless you like the gay race communism of course.

Sums it up nicely.

Stevenson can afford to be socialist

censorship.....yes
the rough treatment of political adversaries.......yes
undemocratic.................yes
political policing & courts................yes
militaristic & imperialist..................yes
propaganda...................................yes

Appointments to well paid Senior Public Sector jobs based on what box you tick rather than your qualifications & track-record...............................yes

banning books ( instead of burning them )...................................yes

During the Spanish Civil War, General Franco was a fascist who deliberately unleashed moroccan rape-gangs upon villages. Villages of political resistance. As a scare tactic. And EVERYBODY knew about it.

i cannot comment on any 1930's Germany type racial laws because i am not a solicitor.

Yes, in most cases the reasons are corruption and/or exploitation, either recent or historic.

Surely nobody is still clinging onto a notion that our society is meritocratic..?

The main reason is that they don't live in a country with Socialist economics.

Given the vast majority of people on the planet don't live in a county with socialist economics, and there are still enormous differences in outcomes from person to person... I'm not sure that quite stands up.

Which countries in the past with fully socialist economies do you think were successful and enriched their people?

It is becoming less so because of the DEI policy.

Undoubtedly, some people have made their fortune by nefarious activities, but most of us make money by working for it. You have an advantage if you come from a wealthy family, certainly, but they had to get wealthy somehow.

In the end, it is about adapting to the circumstances and doing what has to be done, and sometimes it means that someone else is disadvantaged.

That is the law of the jungle in action.
