Only a brief read reveals a couple of things.
Firstly, it says “The number of offences committed by "immigrants" also fell by around 9%”. So it is relevant, but not in the way some might have anticipated.
Secondly, whilst the headline mentions the increase in reported rapes it ignores the increase, of almost the same percentage, of murder and manslaughter. This is also relevant because whilst a reported increase could simply mean that more rapes are being reported now because of the attention given to it, it is unlikely that murder or manslaughter goes unreported. Therefore which of these two statistics deserves a headline?
