I understand why you would suggest that murder should be the headline but if you look at the actual number of offences then the sexual assault is staggering at 14,500 cases (40 per day).
You suggest that it could be that more rapes are being reported but the article also states, from a study, that only 6% of sexual offences are reported. This means there could be as many as 660 cases per day, which is quite frightening to consider.
And some are dreamt up, which undermines the females who have gone through such a trauma.
Presumably there is actual proof of this

Seven Afghan men charged over child sexual exploitation
The men are charged with 40 offences as part of an investigation into group-based child exploitation.
Police said the men's immigration status was "refugee". Five of the defendants entered the country on small boats, according to the police. One came to the UK concealed on a lorry and another arrived via a port, all seven men spoke via interpreters. Norfolk Police said an eighth man, aged 19, had been arrested in Ireland on Friday as part of the investigation.
