Greatest ever player.

Palace have nearly always had one or two really exciting players on the pitch over the years.
The last decade or so we have been graced with Zaha ('he's just too good for you'), Bolase, then Eze, Olise, Guehi with some of his runs and even Wharton with some of his passing. These are players who make you want to go to matches to watch them play. There are probably one or two more in this period.
Recent times have undoubtedly been our best era for top end results and exciting football.
My big concern is that all the magic seems to have moved on. Wharton undoubtedly needs special players who can read his game and vice versa.
Here is hoping we can find some more of these types. For me it is what watching football is all about.

Fair point, even in the dreadful Mullery era with all the old donkeys we were signing we had Kevin Mabbutt who was a great little player

Must admit I’m struggling to think of an ‘exciting’ player in the Peter Taylor era though, but in general I think you’re right, we’ve always got someone to get us off seats

I did mention Martin Hinshelwood who was young from Taylors time sadly injury cut short his career , the players around him knew how to play , not world beaters but knew how to get the best from the younger players ,

Or was you talking managerial if so sure we did , Ben Watson Michael Hughes Jobi mcanuff Tommy Black last one just loved watching him but had more , just Peter Taylor couldn't get them to play like the England kids did 🥲

I was talking about his management era. But my old brain seems to remember McAnuff and Black had gone by the time Taylor took over, and much as I liked Michael Hughes, I’m not sure he comes into the category of ‘exciting’ and I was never really a fan of Ben Watson

Both did tommy didn't leave until end of 2007 window think jobi was the same

Two players who joined CP and both were head and shoulders above their new team mates.

Attilo Lombardo and Yohan Cabaye
Not sure that's quite true as the player who started the most games with Cabaye was Zaha(69) ;although Ward and Hennessey do come next
I guess Warhurst and Gordon were the best when Lombardo played

Just had a look on Wikipedia about Wayne he is not a well man has some sort of kidney disease focal segmentation glomerulosclerosis sad news ,
also his son plays for young boys
That is a shame, much as we ridicule his time with us,one way or another he’s part of our history and you don’t wish these players ill health obviously
