Glasner Out

Why should SP hold on to Marc for the rest of the season, basically four months just to please a manager who’s announced he’s leaving anyway. He has to do what’s best for the club which has been and will be around a lot longer than Ollie’s two years.

Imo the reason Ollie had his rant is to make it perfectly clear to any possible future employers that our recent demise is not his fault, in other words self preservation

This is my concern/resentment.

Ollie deservedly took a heap of credit for our success last season. In the same vain, he’ll receive a lot of criticism and blame when things are going so horrendously wrong, as they are now. Rightly so, he’s in charge of the team.

When things have gone badly before, my one desire is always for the manager to address the issue, confirm he has an understanding of what has gone wrong, and inspire some hope of fixing it/finding a solution.

When the manager confirms he’s off, therefore has little to lose if the club suffers the worst consequences, and refuses to take any accountability for our atrocious situation, for me the whole situation is a write-off. It smacks of “this isn’t my fault and I don’t care, it’s Palace’s problem not mine”.

I support Palace, I don’t support the career of Oliver Glasner. If he is demonstrating an inability to solve our current woes and a refusal to take accountability for the situation, I’d really rather someone who will, regardless of what has occurred in the past.

If Glasner is unable to resolve the current situation, it is in his best interests to make it seem as though it’s anybody else’s fault but his own for the sake of his career. That would appear to be what he is doing.

Well you need to learn to read. I said 'obviously the manager needs to be told at the earliest opportunity when a player will be leaving, thats the only involvement he'd need to have in an outgoing tranfer.'
After that tany replacement is an incoming transfer isn't it?
Yes I can read perfectly fine thanks, if you read my comment properly you’d know that’s exactly what I was saying should happen.

We also know from the information given, that in the case of Oli and CPFC currently, that is not how it is taking place. That is exactly what I was calling into question in the first place.

A DOF should not be negotiating the sale of a player that a manager wants to keep. If they are doing so, that signals that they are not working together on such matters.

Exactly

I vaguely recall a Roy Hodgson interview when he was managing Palace, where he openly stated he was working within the financial parameters given to him, and working to the objectives given (Premiership survival).
I don't doubt every manager has had the same remit on appointment

Probably there was optimism the FA cup win and Europe would change the club's approach
Some changes seem to have (not) been made after the FA Cup win, that doesn't sit well.

And I think Ollie's TV rants were brilliant. They are up there with Kevin Keegan's "I'd love it", and Delia Smith's "Lets be avin you" - car crash stuff 😀
I reckon Thomas Frank is in the mix, along with a couple of others.

That's an aspect of Roy's tenure that tends to get overlooked - he'd previously managed Inter Milan, Liverpool and England but with his previous experience he was able to work within Palace's financial constraints. The results might not have been pretty but he did his job and kept us up.

and sometimes he took the gloves off and we smashed teams , not often normally when safe👍

Not forgetting many other clubs in Scandinavia, including Blackburn and WBA,where he managed very successfully.
Perhaps time to put OG,on garden leave and recruit a Manager who actually wants to be at Palace,

I don't particularly mean booing the team. More a quiet atmosphere, I'm thinking. But it could easily turn, and likely be directed against Glasner, with a couple of poor performances. I've seen Palace boo players a hundred times to be fair - but it's usually more isolated than orchestrated.
The Spurs supporters I know said “ it’s relentless, the players are scared to get the ball!

The big difference here is the quantity of first choice players out in a small squad, if it was pretty much the first choice team turning out the same results then it would be deeply concerning.
On a side note I was listening to someone moaning about an inflexible manager, using the same tactics and the same players who were knackered having played too many games. Playing a player obviously out of position and bringing in a 19 yr old who was not ready for first team football. I thought another moaning about Glasner but no the individual then revealed it was Unai Emery the whinger was an Aston Villa fan!

I think where we have really been strung out is losing Sarr, Munoz & Richards all pretty much at the same time, the entire right hand side needed to be bolstered & you don't need too look to hard to see how often that those players were key components in us winning games (or at least not losing them)

I understand Ollie’s frustration, we all know we needed players and it’s frustrating selling our best players, as fans we’re used to it now, but I understand and trust SP who has to run the club and keep us financially secure and competing at the highest level. It’s a shame Ollie’s time is ending this way, but as a club we’ll move on after he’s gone, and we’ll be able to move on because we’ve got a club with a solid foundation, thanks to Parish
