Glasner Out

he's not going to Chelsea - Spurs, Liverpool, Man U or Bayern possibly, but one thing Ollie ain't is stupid, and he's not desperate nor greedy, and he's not going to be bossed around by those muppets. And if we get one or two more in, and actually start building work on the new stand, bcos I think the new stand is emblematic of how we see ourselves progressing as a club, then don't write off him staying here, but that is contingent on the quality of leadership at the club, which he clearly feels has sagged a bit with regards to transfer dealings (and stadium development I would venture).

I think OG’s next job may well be outside of the EPL. Can see him taking over one of the bigger clubs in the Bundesliga. Maybe not Bayern but if any of Leipzig, Dortmund or Leverkusen change manager he would be an ideal fit.

It looks more and more likely Brennan Johnson will be a Palace player. So seeing as a lot of people think if he doesn’t sign OG, is going ,does it mean he will be staying if this transfer is completed?

Would be great if he does but if not Europe has a few who might come bearing in mind our top 15 will compete with most sides.

In a word - no.

As I see it:
  1. Glasner seems a decent person and if he says he's still in talks with the board then he hasn't made up his mind yet but is open to staying if the talks go well.
  2. He seems genuinely delighted with the attitude and commitment of the squad. In other words, he recognises he has a rare group of players.
  3. Whilst the signing of Johnsin can only be a positive, it's not enough to tip the scales. It's not simply about players but about the board's ambitions for the club.

He’s given an interview saying he was at fault in the summer for insisting on a small squad as he didn’t appreciate that contact injuries were more common in the PL and there’s no winter break for the players. Maybe he’s realising he’s got a decent project here.

All good points, but what I was getting at wasn’t if Johnson signing convinced OG to stay.
It was by signing did Johnson consider OG to be his manager for a year or two, meaning OG would stay?

If Glasner hasn't told the club he's staying, I can't see him saying anything to Johnson about his own future at Palace. What he might have said is that the club has decided that we will continue to be a counter-attacking team whoever the manager is and that Johnson has the appropriate skills to fit whichever such system any future manager may use. Our Academy teams now play the same system as the 1st team.

If you watch his half hour documentary on Sky, everyone who talks about him says he is ambitious and that he hasn’t stayed long in his various roles.

My view on whether he stays or not is quite simply based on whether he gets offered a project that is more enticing than the one he currently has. I don’t think he’ll think twice about leaving if it does come along.

Glasner is being very clever in taking his share of the blame, I doubt this climbdown would have happened if Johnson hadn't arrived. If we get one or two more in key areas and our form starts to pick up, which it will esp when the injured return, then don't yet write him off as definitely going, there's more chance of him staying here than going to Chelsea I would say.

I would be amazed if he goes to Chelsea. Despite the undoubted massive pay rise it’s a poisoned chalice of a job alongside the Manure gig.

Is there a better project out there?
He is working in the premier league (self proclaimed best league in the world)
He is working with a mid to lower team that is ambitious (although with limitations)
He has already had success in winning the worlds oldest cup competition and Charity shield.
The club is looking to build a shiny new stand and increase revenue.
The club has an amazing (relatively) new academy (still haven’t seen any rewards, but believe they will come now the u21 are playing the same system)
He has a squad (albeit small) that he loves working with and he has a free hand to pretty much do what he wants.
He was never under any pressure despite the poor start to last season!
I’m not sure he will get that any many other clubs, especially the big boys.
Or that all could be how I see it through my rose tinted palace glasses.

Sometimes it can be as simple as Glasner needing to know the depth of feeling and ...well....scale of admiration , that the fans have for him as well as both players and Board?

There is a plan in place for Palace and Glasner is an invaluable cog in the wheel.

What you say is all very plausible, and may well prove to be right. In most cases I would expect Johnson to be concerned about who would be his manager in the next year or so. Frank ,will always be a lesson in his life. Maybe it is Parish, that sold the club to him, as I feel a departing manager would not have that effect.
