Glasner Out

Glasner's announcement that he was leaving didn't sit right with me given the timing, so I wouldn't be so bothered if he left now. Having said that, I still maintain it's fantasy land to think another manager would have achieved significantly better results with the squad we've had since Munoz and Sarr have been out. Most of the defeats have been because we've had no senior subs and the team has looked done by 60-70 minutes. We saw it in previous seasons when other teams like West Ham and Villa were juggling Europe and the PL with stronger squads than ours.

Without Guehi the defence looked less organised yesterday, while up top players still aren't taking chances. We had more shots on goal than Chelsea and the same amount on target. The difference was they had players with the composure to take the opportunities presented to them. Our chances were actually more clear-cut. There were positives, including our defending at set pieces, the return of Sarr and Munoz, and the fact we finished strongly, but we will need to be a lot better next weekend. Whether OG stays or goes, Parish needs to invest in the squad, because most of the teams below us are doing that and it is no time to be sitting on your hands. We need a Gary Cahill-type signing who can come in and bring some leadership.

I miss being able to pop down the non league games on a Saturday. If I lived in England that's what I'd do. It's more fun, frankly.
I've gone to watch Bromley occasionally down the years. I grew up in the town and went to school across the road from their ground.

I started going a bit more often a couple of years ago, and last season I went to about a dozen home games.

Ok, the emotional attachment that I have with Palace isn't there. But ;

No VAR
' Real ' football - none of the BS you get with the Premier League
Catering facilities ( ok booze ) far better than at Palace
Reasonably priced tickets

Together with a club that has genuine ambition.

I'll never not support Palace. And I'll renew my season ticket for next year.

But I'll be opting for more Bromley games rather than spending money on going to Palace away matches

Maybe you can combine the two in a couple of years. Bromley are six points clear at the top of League 2, having won 8 of last 9 games and keeping a clean sheet in the other one

Results have generally gone against us this weekend and I feel we are now in the battle of our lives to avoid a return to the Championship, given that we face an inform Forest away next Sunday and are likely to be dragged further into the mire.

OG,should leave on own accord or be removed from post,as he has clearly got no interest in our future wellbeing.
Time to appoint a Manager , an established relegation fighter as our situation is dire.
Another inevitable loss against Forest should exercise SP's thinking, together with a similar outcome against Brighton.Exactly, when will be wake up to the mess we are in,or is he spending to much time at his hairdresser????

No we didn't.

That's a brilliant summary and really well written - thank you.
I agree with the praise for the post however……..sell Mateta before securing a replacement and this facing the wrath of fans as in Eze & Guehi? Replacement? Who? Strand -Larsson? This season he can’t get in the Wolves side, why is that? The various untried strikers linked? Is that not going down the Uche route? Don’t get me wrong but is there really an option out there at the moment? I see there are the usual teenagers from Brazil finding EPL clubs but we tried that as well, albeit Textor‘d.
Same goes for a new trainer, tricky, anybody suitable out there and not under contract? Even with a small squad these players should be good enough to accumulate enough points but they are not performing. Thus we return to system and trainer. What a mess, that was so unnecessary given sensible planning Grrr

There are 3 reasons for our continued slide into mediocrity, it’s not the depth of squad, it’s the poor quality of our latest signings, Pino, Uche, Sosa, Esse and Canvot about 80m, if you add Nketiah 30m none of the 6 are Premier league standard, all agreed by Glasner, his own words, I would show a bit of Leeway to Nketiah as he is always played out of position.
Secondly, Glasners total lack of flexibility with his selections and tactics, the farcical line up against Kups, being a case, and Thirdly the air of uncertainty created by Glasner with his choice of comments to the media, the season now is winning the Conference league and a mid table finish, but I am not sure Glasner has the resourcefulness to do that.

Believe nothing you read or hear, and only half what you see.

December 28th, and i was spoken to as if i had lost the plot, as Bob Monkhouse would say, they are not laughing now. he will take us down 🙁

There are some early posts on here which are quite, well not nice!
Back then I thought it was a blip. Now though it seems some had a good point and up to now been proved correct. I do believe OG has lost it with both the players and fans. Alongside his lack of awareness to play a system to suit the players available. Two games more without a win and he has to go. I honestly don’t know who but someone who knows different systems would be a start.

Here is the current table if it was based on the first half alone. We would be 6th on GD just 4 points behind Arsenal. Quite how much you can put the difference after 90+ minutes down to tired players, lack of adequate substitutions or being out-managed tactically is a matter of opinion. Interestingly, Pep should be under the same scrutiny as well

It seems to be a consolation for our horrible PL run, that we will get more silver ware with a Conference win. Palace win??? Forget it and stop dreaming. We are in a mess, simple as that and with Forest on the menu next, we will slip even closer to the bottom 2. And still, just a few days before transfer window close, we are "looking at this and that". What is really going on...?

The first thing we need to do is to start taking our chances, it's ridiculous how many easy chances we are missing.
The system we play is reliant on us scoring first and every game we've had a couple of clear opportunities.
Maybe drop Mateta but, if we still miss easy chances it doesn't really matter who the manager is or what system you play you will still struggle.
The defence should settle down again with Riad and hopefully he can build on his performance against Chelsea. The way he played suggests he is confident with his knee and physical condition.

I don’t think there’s a football fan or Pundit on the planet that could predict Palace would be in such a precarious position as now last May .
I honestly don't know how it’s come to be , The player sales , Injuries and extra cup games aren’t the whole story , On reflection Glasner hasn’t really managed the situation well and the chairman has to take some responsibility but ultimately I think the fans have been blinded by the cup final and charity shield win too much and ignored the inability of Glasner to change tactics to compensate for injuries , Extra games and player sales .
Glasner needs to go for his and the clubs benefit , he has clearly lost interest and it’s rubbing off on the players , Parish needs to act even if it means paying Glasners contract up , The club seems to be in limbo and directionless at a time when stability and strong leadership on and off the field is paramount if the New stand is to be built and financed or we risk being back to 2010 before long .

Do you print these posts out and have them stuck around your bedroom wall? Is this all some il-lanzo-nati conspiracy with a photo of Roy in a thong pinned in the middle of it all?

The frustrating thing about this winless run is that in the vast majority of the games we have been competitive. With the exception of Leeds and Macclesfield away where we got what we deserved.

Missed chances, a sudden vulnerability at set pieces and individual errors are in my opinion the main contributors. The thin margins that decide games.

If we were getting taken apart every week then it's to be expected that the manager / head coach would review his tactics and try something different. Glasner has been coaching the majority of the squad in his methods for two years now. He trusts those methods and he trusts the majority of the squad to implement them and get results.

A big part of in game management is to be able to call upon players from the bench that can offer something different - and we just haven't had that this season. 2 'keepers on the bench on occasion.

Ultimately it's Glasner that will carry the can for results. And I know there's a lot of people that will be glad to see the back of him. I'm not one of them.
