Importantly there are signs of it all coming together. Certainly the spirit is good and the newcomers are straight in. Forward line needs a good kick up the arse and the defence needs to become tighter but I have faith in Sage.

I kinda liked the two little fellas Wright and Johnson and Murray was pretty good but yes, with a few notable exceptions we have had some garbage plying their trade for us.

We are staring to see Sage’s way of playing. Mobility. High energy and attempt to press high. He clearly wants a mobile front three and midfield. Where that leaves some of our players is interesting as shown by Guessand and McNeil being left out. The good version of JPM and Sarr would make a huge difference to the team. Mobility but much more physical presence.
At the back though we are a shambles. I am really not sure Canvot should be starting. He has so much potential but makes at least one serious error every game and positionally is naive. Not really a surprise for a young player but I’d feel better with Tomiyasu starting. The new signing at RWB was very shaky but very early days for him. I hope we don’t regret letting Munoz go.
Chilwell already looks an astute signing. He and Mitchell show what a proper professional should look like in terms of attitude and commitment

It’s a funny old game Saint as Greavsie would say. We could have had 3 tight draws in the first 3 games and played great football and yet we have the same amount of points despite losing 2, playing poorly for much of the games and shipping 8 goals in the process.
Great result poor performance, we were lucky.
The Pluses:
Henderson MOTM although I wont begrudge Mitchell.
Mitchell obviously
Timber looked good
We did not concede from set play
The Bad
Defence was atrocious, our new RWB gave Richards no protection and Richards made some bad mistakes, as did some of the others. If we can get to grips with our defence and Sarr gets over his sulking we will have a decent side.

I agree about Tomiyasu but with regard to Khalaili we also have Mingueza who can play in that position if we want someone with more experience. Khalaili needs to recognise when to go and when to hold but he has tons of potential and is quick going forward.
To be honest the new signings don’t concern me, it’s the supposed experienced players in Nketiah Strand Larsen and the centre half’s where we have a few issues at the moment.

Winning that game instead of losing it is the mental difference between "beat Ipswich at home and it's a decent start to the season" and "we are bang in trouble".
I think given how that we have a new manager, a load of new signings, no Sarr or Mateta, and a huge amount of players coming back late from the World Cup, it was always going to be a while until things gel.
The defence needs massive improvement quickly. However, we're scoring and there have been positive signs from some of the new lads.
I really think that was a very pivotal result. With Middlesbrough, Ipswich and Lech Poznan up next, all at home, we should be aiming to get on a run of four straight wins now and that would be amazing for confidence.

Or not, in my case. My GP gave me a strong lecture about my drinking yesterday, and he asked me, as a minimum, not to have one before 7. There I was full of good intentions, but after that I thought "stuff it", today's special.

Frankly these two aren't anywhere near good enough and unless Sage has some super duper coaching trick up his sleeve then I doubt they will improve sufficiently to make a difference.
