Fulham v Crystal Palace match thread

I completely agree about Kamada's substitution in the Fulham game. I also didn't see what decisive bad influence he had on the game. However, I'm not sure if OG is still so enthusiastic about him, because he has been anything else but a playmaker everybody was hoping for. The fact that you then try to justify an unfortunate decision that you initiated - as OG possibly does - is bad, but human. It often takes time to admit your own mistakes. Kamada's transfer to the PL may not have been good in retrospect, but these things happen and are unfortunately part of the game. Let's hope for a late surprise. If someone had told me a year ago that JPM is able to take on defenders like he did for the second goal on Saturday, I would have laughed at him.

Agree all round here.

I find it bizarre that some try to defend Kamada’s performances as they have at the very least not been great, that’s an almost objective statement.

I think any criticism he faces will always be greater when we lose, naturally, however he can’t be terminally written off just yet, surely? Whether he does improve/adjust will only be evidenced in time. The question is whether or not we can afford to give him time, which this season at least, I’d suggest we can.

I’m still curious as to whether his continued inclusion is a commercial as opposed to footballing decision though? I’ve no hard evidence to support that but find it a plausible theory.

There will always be supporters and at times apologists for players who regularly have ‘off’ games. It was the case with Benteke and Ward and now is the case with Mitchell and to a larger extent Kamada. I think it’s quite noble to stand by players with obvious weaknesses but that doesn’t mean they should be above criticism every now and again. Mitchell had a very good game against Fulham. Always credit where’s its due.

Something I noticed, and kind of confirmed what I suggested in a post regarding Mitchell - Eze had Mitchell in plenty of space outside him waiting for a pass but instead Eze turned back inside and hit a shot that their keeper dealt with (as with an Eze freekick from distance a little while later). I'm more and more of the opinion that Eze doesn't pass to Mitchell, so... don't keep scapegoating Mitchell, he did a good job yesterday.
He doesn't pass to him for a reason

Maybe by moving into forward positions defenders are obliged to cover him thus creating more space for the player inside (Eze). Arguably Mitchell does a good job just by being there. I don’t, incidentally, accept that Mitchell is as rubbish as an attacker as some people on here suggest.
