Dougie on the phone to Wilf and Édouard. It's now reported that Nketiah has picked up a hamstring injury.
Kamada will now have to play in 2 positions- central midfield and part of the front 3!
No question of leaving him out now.
In my opinion, we should be actively discouraging not fully fit players from going. If we can't actually stop them.Let's assume Doucoure is fit for Saturday.
Do we then send him on international duty if selected?
Or Richards with USA if he's now fit?
Or Sarr, or Munoz?
Wharton apparently picked up his injury on England duty.
I dislike these international breaks with a passion.
I know the counter arguments that 'we can't stop them' or 'it's a sign our club is doing well.'
As far as I'm concerned they just accentuate the possibility of injury which further exposes the threadbare nature of our squad.
That would be a recipe for a hiding. Doucoure can’t be fully match fit and Schlupp is at least a stone overweight. If he doesn’t go with Devenney then it has to be Chalobah with Doucoure and either Wardie or Richards filling his place in the back three. If Nketiah is out I imagine it will be Schlupp and Doucoure in centre mid with Kamada in the left side of the attacking three and kids on the bench. In that scenario we might as well go very attacking tactically, try and get a lead then hold on for as long as we can.
My opinion too but we'll have to wait and see. Clyne into the back threeThat would be a recipe for a hiding. Doucoure can’t be fully match fit and Schlupp is at least a stone overweight. If he doesn’t go with Devenney then it has to be Chalobah with Doucoure and either Wardie or Richards filling his place in the back three.
I wouldn't be averse to your possible line-up.I agree that Schlupp will probably replace Nketiah (OG has only been playing him as a wide forward) and Kamada will likely partner Doucoure. There will be no senior forwards or midfielders on the bench, so after that any injuries or changes and it gets interesting. Another possible option based on recent OG moves could be...
Hendo
Clyne Chalobah Lacroix Guehi Mitchell
Doucourre Kamada
Munoz Sarr
Mateta
Watching the U21s against Peterborough the other night one player who really stood out was midfielder Hindolo Mustapha. A proper unit and looked really useful on the ball. His strength, composure and skill suggest he has a bright future. Plus he already has his first senior international goal at just 18.
I saw a back page headline that mentioned this but couldn't see who & now click-bait have picked up on it . . . Crystal Palace 'Deeply Concerned' as Eddie Nketiah Injury Suspicions EmergeSo Nketiah picked up his injury during a private session with a personal trainer. WTAF shouldn’t have time or energy to go private. Club must be livid
