Flags.........& Politics.

There are just two locally. Both on flagpoles in front gardens.

One flies the Union Flag. Whether for genuinely patriotic reasons or because they are UKIP/Reform/Farage fans I don’t know. It’s been there a while. The other is a Ukranian flag which has flown since Russia invaded. Of course the schools and churches fly the national flags on special occasions. Like St Piran’s day. No Palestinian or Rainbow flags to be seen here.

We have two flagpoles at our club. Flags are flown on all special occasions. Our own flag on one and either the Union Flag or the Cornish Flag on the other. Whenever we lose someone we fly them at half mast until after their funeral.
I had already looked it up - just to let you know. But, understandably, it may not be right in your vicinity. Probably more the seaside, surfer types and the Cornish nationalists.

He mostly diverts threads away from their title. So, i clicked on his name, and flagged him onto 'ignore'. Cos this thread is about flags.

And simultaneously, i have tried to flag myself as a normal. A bit ambitious maybe. But 'normals' do not argue with idiots. Not at Hyde Park Corner, nor Croydon High street, nor anywhere else.

The only one who ever diverts threads is you, when you repeatedly accuse me of doing so. I simply reply. As I am now.

You are only “normal” in this particular echo chamber, although to be honest you are exceptional even here.

If me standing up to the kind of nonsense routinely posted here makes me an idiot, in your eyes, then I will wear that badge with great pride.

I was referring to my immediate locality, which I trust you don’t know, not the rest of Cornwall which I haven’t studied or noticed. I would be interested to know what you think is a surfer “type” as they come in all shapes, sizes and ages. There are very few genuine nationalists here. Many though who keep a unique culture alive.

The Cornish flag is widely flown. As a sign of pride in this special place.

You probably shouldn't be giving information away about your immediate locality.
My advice would be to delete these posts.

There must be a disproportionate number of Cornish nationalists on the council then.

He's on the left wing so unlikely to face violence. It's those on the right who are at risk of that.

....with the wielders of the weapons being lauded and given accolades. The Charlie Kirk killer is not the first to be honoured with T-shirts and prizes. It sets a very dodgy precedent when you honour those who commit political violence in the streets.

If only I could fly the St George flag as a sign of pride in my country instead of liberal types telling me I’m racist for doing so…

I thought you said there were no rainbow flags?

As I said, it might not be as common in your locality. As for surfer types, you'll identify them from their Palestinian and Rainbow flags on their unroadworthy camper vans. I mean more surfer lifestyle than people who go surfing.

Except when applied to the violence at and the threatening to/burning of hotels, Eh?

Apples and oranges.

One happened, the other didn't.

Where someone did try to light a hotel they were caught and punished and no one supported it.

Whereas on the US left, many businesses were burnt down and people attacked and some killed and the left did little else but minimise and ignore it. GoFundMes were set up for the arrested, progressive DA ensured that people were released early and not prosecuted.

That went on for 18 months, until Biden got in....disgusting.
The people who financially backed it will pay now.

In Britain the two tier nature of both our courts and Police has been shown time and time again, from the Bristol environmentalists being released without punishment after extensive criminal damage to Ricky Jones not being sent to prison but Lucy Connolly being jailed.

Disproportionate to what?

Cornwall Council has more Reform Councillors than from any other party. It has 28! The Lib Dem’s have 26 whilst Mebyon Kernow, the independence party, has just 3. There are more independents that Labour and Tory combined!

Pride in the County here transcends political affiliation. People are Cornish before they are anything else so establishing Cornwall as a separate member of the UK is a shared desire.

Strange that I have never, and I mean not once, seen either a Palestinian or a Rainbow flag on a camper van, whether roadworthy or not. It’s not that I spend all my time in just this locality either.

I do though avoid the tourist hot spots in the season so perhaps they might be seen there. Tourist hot spots being full of tourists. Those people who arrive here from elsewhere. Not the locals.

Oh the irony of this.

This is all I'll say on this but when there were near riots outside Southport and Rotherham, I don't recall anyone on here coming out and condemning it outright. At best it was mitigated by phrases like: "well the people had no other alternative because the government isn't listening"

By the way, I agree that Jones was treated far too lightly. He was, after all, promoting violence with his comments and gestures.
