Fiorintina vs Crystal Palace match thread

Horrible! I can think of a few thugs from the 60-70s who would have been proud of that - Hunter, Bremner, Chopper Harris, Tommy Smith, Nobby Stiles, Dave McKay and Peter Storey come immediately to mind. But, we had a few enforcers too like Roger Hynd!
Roger Hynd was a tough player. Probably obligatory to mention that Bill Shankly was his uncle.

Not a great second half, but apart from their 2nd goal they didn’t offer too much of a threat. We were seriously weakened by the loss of Adam and Max. I think we would have at least got a draw out of the game had they not gone off.
Hopefully the injuries are not as bad as they looked as we looked dodgy at the back without Max and then playing the back 3 out of position.
Well done boys job done.

Two disappointments for me was Pino and Lerma. But saying that, it was a good result after the first leg. Hope injuries aren’t too bad as we need them for semi and league run in. Monday night looks a bit tougher now :-(

I concluded that the only 'Positive' from tonight's game was that we are through to the Semi-Final.
A defeat, injuries to key players and an uninspiring performance.
An 'inspiring performance' was not required nor necessarily expected. Fiorentina have been in two finals and one semi final of this competition in the last 3 years. They are a decent Serie A side who had a bad start to the season, but now back on track. They were never going to roll over at home.

We got the job done, quite easily in the end. The injuries are concerning though.

This might be so, however having witnessed Fiorentina over the two legs I have been far from impressed with them. To lose to them after taking the lead is disappointing.
A 'Bitter sweet' night for me.

I echo these sentiments.
