Feckers who achieved greatness....whether they deserved it or not

It is only that Da Vinci painted it, Hieronymus Bosch, now there's a painter.
The Mona Lisa is overrated but he did do other stuff.

I am an art lover when I go to an exhibition by a famous painter I look for the unexpected that is my bench mark for greatness. AT a Picasso exhibition right in the middle of his Cubism period (wonky faces) he produced a stunning conventional portrait of a friend, so proving he could paint "ordinary" if he wanted to.

Gauguin famous for his Tahiti paintings produces some stunning wood statues which I loved.

Andy Warhol, vastly overrated. At his major exhibition in London it had all his famous repeat works like Marilyn and Heinz soup but nothing unusual, seen it all before.

Later I learned that Warhol started as a commercial artist working for a fabric firm, in those days women still made their own dresses. His job was to produce a repeat pattern for a roll of fabric e.g. flowers. The pattern would have to repeat again and again as the customer would buy different lengths of material.

Repeat pattern geddit?

Da Vinci really has know parallel, his mastery of so many Facets of Art, Science, etc holds know bounds, its laughable some think its all he did, The posts impressionist like Monet, Cézanne, Van Gogh etc are my favorite artists, great use of colors, Caravaggio a master at religious painting, but Hieronymus Bosch, The Garden of Earthly Delights, is a true masterpiece, not a portrait fan myself, but have been to many galleries over the world, so pleased to have seen many.
