FA cup predictions

I heard an interesting interview with Steve Coppell on the final.

His view is that the key to the game is how well we do out of possession, as in possession he is convinced we will carry a threat and can hurt City.

He pointed out that we were very effective out of possession v Villa and says it will be necessary to replicate this v City.

I wonder if Wharton will play as there must be doubt about his fitness if he has damaged ligaments. He’s our best passer and we look more fluid when he plays, but he can disappear for spells when out of possession.

I make City favourites with their pedigree and the strength of their squad, but of course if we produce a similar performance as in the Villa game we definitely have a chance.

1-0 to Palace at HT
1-1 not long after and City come at us strong
2-1 Palace after a penalty followed by a red card for city
2-1 on 90 minutes with City going at us, but a counter attack from Palace puts us 3-1 up.
95 minutes corner to City and the goalie comes up for it, but we win the header. A long hoof up field from Hughes soars over the pitch and drops into the empty net. 4-1 win.

I've had 2 bets. Eze first goal scorer and draw at full time.

I'm not optimistic but then again I am a Palace fan so always looking for the cloud in the silver lining.

City to win with a dodgy decision.

Can’t hide the fact, I’d be over the moon if we win….there may even be a tear or two 🙈

Anyway, back to the topic - I’m going for an optimistic Palace win 3-1. 🦅

I guess we will find out at 1.30pm in OG’s news conference if Wharton is playing. It could make the difference!

3-1 palace

I never register to other fans forums but thought why not, I’ll have everything crossed for you tomorrow. Sunderland fan myself so understand how hard it is when you don’t support one of the very big boys.

I’ve really enjoyed watching palace. I tend to skip a lot of pl games but always make time to watch you lot play, there’s a lot of turd in the pl but palace play a nice brand of football, very watchable and highly entertaining.

Good luck lads and lasses, these beat us in the league cup but it was a very different city team snd ofc we were no where near your level.

Good luck, one last big push 💪

Obviously they’re not unbeatable now, but I thought that about United going into the 1990 and 2016 finals, so I’m not getting too carried away. But if we play like we did against Villa and city play like they did in last years final, we’ll win, 3-2 to us and I think I’m going to have to stop because I’ve got a lump in my throat 😁

Not sure you could play these at a better time in the last 10-15 years tbh. Just have to play with the same freedom you have all season and it’s doable.

Good luck to you guys as well. Hopefully a Wembley trip to remember for both clubs 🙏

Ahh, you've gone all Murray Walker(RIP)

I am happy to be in the final and because we are there we have a chance. Over the last 2/3's of the season we have been playing well. The only 2 games we came unstuck were Newcastle and Man City. I can recall the City game very well. It was very open in the first part of the game and we took our first couple of chances. We could have had a third before when it was still 2-0. City while we were scoring were creating good chances but were missing them. Their first goal was soft one as the free kick could have been avoided and i thought Henderson could also have done better in saving the shot. From then on City carried on creating chances but i thought we did not really look like scoring as we could not get the ball out of our own half when we did have it.
Reflecting on the game i thought both City full back's ( who are converted midfielders ) were very influential. Instead of overlapping out wide they ran inside between our wing backs and the centre halves and caused us continual problems. When we did have the ball in the first half we did carve them open in the spaces behind the full backs.
It will be interesting to see if Eze and Saar are tasked with tracking their full backs. I also wonder if Lerma may play as he probably is better defensively that Wharton\ Hughes and Kamada and may help with us getting the ball back.
From the City perspective i also wonder if Haaland will play or start from the bench. Marmoush looks a sharper player at the moment.
I have a feeling the game is going to be close and feel it good be something like 2-2.

Just had a feeling all season we would win it. I can't change now although it is becoming quite nerve racking. I put a bet on - not much, way back at 20-1. I'm not much of a betting person but, as I said, I just felt we'd win the cup this year. I have no idea of a score.
I have a feeling they might score first but that we come back and win. 2-1 to us, pure guess.

20-1 is excellent now, I wish I had a tenner on it at those odds

First goal is absolutely crucial. If we get it we can continue to counter attack.

But if city gets it I think we would find it difficult as they can just pass it around.

I have not seen too many times this season we have come from behind to win?

Hard to predict, isn't it?

With Palace being Palace literally anything can happen. Although this manager and this team feels different. We couldn't be in a better position for this game.

City are tough, but far from invincible. You can ignore the league game at the Etihad, it's a totally different mindset for the cup Final.

I think we can do it. If we go for it, and keep calm, it's very possible. Probably need to score first though.

It's clear from my rambling I haven't got a scooby... too nervous...
