FA Cup Doncaster predictions.

I think Doncaster are having more injuries to deal with than us and they only played on Thursday so have less preparation time than us. I did have a look at their recent highlights and they are similar to us in that play forward and are quite direct. I think we will have a lot more of the ball than we usually have but we can then sometimes struggle to pass through teams. Having said that i do think we should win the game and if we score early we could end up with a few.

We made hard work of Stockport, but with JP likely to start this one I think we'll have too much for them. I'm going to go for a more comfortable 0-4. JP hat-trick and an own goal.

Last night I was in conversation with a gentleman apropos Doncaster.
He informed me that top-scorer Luke Molyneux could be influential. He is a left-footed midfielder who has scored spectacular goals in his career and has the ability to score off both feet.
Gary McSheffrey signed him from Hartlepool.

Luke Molyneux was in the Hartlepool team that played Crystal Palace a couple of years ago in the cup. Did lots of flicks and tricks in the warm ups, although a bit lightweight in the game. Could be a threat now though.

Also, there's South Yorkshire legend Billy Sharp to look out for...

I am originally from Doncaster and supported them growing up (proper non-league grass roots stuff at Belle Vue by the racecourse), but similar to the previous Doncaster v Palace game a few years ago, I'm firmly supporting CPFC

Back in the 70s, I knew a charming chap who hailed from Doncaster and supported the club.
He was a friend of Kevin Keegan whom he informed me hailed from Armthorpe. They went to the same school and he told me that KK's first name is actually "Joseph".
This gentleman attended the Tottenham v Doncaster cup match in the 70s when 'Donny' were soundly trounced, Tottenham amassing 7 goals !

sounds like Donny. We did have a purple patch in the 2000s under Sean O'Driscoll but that's about it.

Recently celebrated his 39th birthday.
Sharp has scored in each of the top 4 leagues in England.
Some while ago, someone mentioned to me that Nigel Adkins had managed Sharp at 4 clubs.

Sean O'Driscoll, when manager of Doncaster, signed Billy Sharp.
He also signed our erstwhile player Gareth Taylor and current Leyton Orient manager Richie Wellens.
Indeed. At the risk of being censured for not talking about Palace, here is an interesting piece from a few years ago about making it in the game. James Coppinger, Doncaster's best ever player is one of the players featured in the article.

Always a pleasure chatting with you Willo. I'm going to make sure my next post is CPFC related!

Thanks all.

1-4. Inevitability gives one goal to former Palace man Rob Street. Esse. Mateta. Hughes. Lacroix.

Also, the fifth round draw is at 19:00. We will know who's next prior to the start - a Millwall or Brighton ball could easily change the force (and OG's gametime decisioning?) behind the impetus to win.

Street has scored 2 goals in his 7 games for Doncaster, both after coming on from the bench.

A game where the first 15-20 minutes will likely define the match overall.

If we get a quick lead, and ideally go 0-2 up in 20 minutes, any home crowd will be silenced and it will knock the stuffing out of them. On the other hand if it is 0-0 or 1-0 after 20 minutes then it could be a long night.

Agreed subs will make a difference for both teams. You'd like to think that, regardless of our starting XI, we have more in each final third than they do. So if we turn up and perform we will be fine.
