FA Cup 3rd Round Macclesfield

You might be right... I need to look at it again. I felt that Richard could have got something on it.
Both goals were collectively poor defending. Richards definitely culpable for both goals but not just on him. I also thought Benitez was absolutely dreadful today.

Set pieces is the same issue we’ve had all season. Particularly weak on dealing with second balls in. OG’s job is to fix that. He hasn’t and teams are now targeting it.

Let’s have this straight, for us, Palace fans. The FA cup is the holy grail. Today we treated what we won so amazingly last year utterly contempt. We have had to sit through Glasner not changing a f***ing thing during the last 6 weeks even when he should have rested JP and some of the others and given one or two a go. Today he decides to leave out our most consistent defender, our only striker, our boss in midfield and our number one goal keeper. That is the definition of the spine of the team.

We were all worrying about Ollie leaving. To be honest there is now a real chance he gets the elbow.

Before any mugs say ‘Pant Wetting’ and other assorted bollocks. Take a long hard look at where we are right now. Going into December we were 4th in the league, in a quarter final and looking forward to an easier than expected FA cup 3rd round draw.

Well once you have taken a look at that it does not look great does it. If Ollie thinks he is an elite level manager he bloody well better show it from here on in. We MUST win the two bob European cup. No question. Parish is not blameless here. Get your f***ing cheque book out and get some f***ing cover in.

I still feel physically sick at what I watched today. I had to go and sit in the garden in the freezing cold because I was so f***ing pissed off. Shame the players didn’t care as much as we did today.
The fact that we have only won 4 of our 14 Home games (All competitions) and only 2 out of 10 PL games at hope is not only disappointing it is diabolical.
One can highlight extenuating circumstances but the fact remains we are on the cresta run of a football descent at this juncture.Very concerning indeed.
😡

I'm sorry, why should we move on after this embarrassing result? Are you actually a Palace fan?

Anyone with a brain would know the squad needed fresh players for the Euro campaign and so many fixtures. The buck stops at the top.
Agree ,with a euro campaign on top of the obligatory seasonal injuries suspensions that every team gets ,we need more quality players to fight on so many fronts .
We will never be a club that has equal position for position replacement eleven but I can’t remember the last time we had a decent bench .
Should you need tactics to beat a part time team ?
If you can’t even get decent crosses in ,take a throw in ,allowing the ball to run out and giving a corner away ( Wharton ).These are basics .
Macclesfield outplayed and more importantly outmuscled us .

Yes Glasner has to take some blame .
But the players were awful,it wasn’t like we were peppering their goal with shots ,hitting posts and crossbars and creating chance after chance .
It wasn’t one of those games where it just wouldn’t go in .
For a while I thought it was going to be 3 nil .
Scoring flattered us .
They just could not be arsed .

The speculation behind Guehi ,Mateta ,Glaner isn’t helping
Sunderland won so their tales will be up .
I reckon we will win that one ,there has to be a reaction .

So Canvot made no challenge is what your saying he didn’t jump
Canvot wasn’t watching the player behind him he got attracted to the ball. It’s basic defending and ultimately led to Macclesfield having a totally free header. By the time he realised the ball was over his head it was in the back of the net.

As magical as last season was and the start of this, that latter months have been really disappointing.

Lack of depth has really challenged the squad and the number of fixtures have result in so little practice time that when anything other than the primary 11 were on the pitch, it looks like they are all meeting for the first time and the result has been an ugly watch and poor results.

While the result today is undeniably poor, hopefully the reduction in fixture congestion and returning health will allow us to finish somewhat competitively while properly integrating the youth into the squad as a result of more practice time.

I'm perfectly fine with 40 points, a 12-14th place finish, a little run in the EUFA conf tourney and memories of last year.

I, and I suspect many others do not share your optimism.
Sunderland are unbeaten at 'Home', and we are in 'Pitchy Seas'.
