FA Cup 3rd Round Macclesfield

Let’s wait and see…….
-Quarter final of the league cup
-staying in the premier league, could see a decent finishing position
-still in the conference league, one of the favourites to win it
Yes, Conference is still on, we're learning on the job, or making it up as we go along. Saying that Glasner does have successful experience in Europe, which is a bonus.

Unless clear evidence emerges to the contrary, I can only presume it's the last of your options!

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I think we look insipid as we lack creative attacking quality, individual match winners that can turn a tight game our way. We've always had at least one up to now. Zaha of course, Eze, Olise... This is the first time we've tried to get by without that individual quality.

Given how Pino is struggling I imagine we'll end up with a first choice front three of Sarr, Johnson, and Mateta. Plenty of finishing power there, but not much creativity.

Regarding Sunderland, I'd be tempted to pick Uche somewhere in the front line. For all his clear shortcomings, he at least seems capable of making a chance for himself, which doesn't seem to be Johnson's game, and certainly isn't Mateta's.
I agree that we are desperately lacking a creative player who can turn a game on their own. What I don’t understand against Macclesfield is why Wharton and Marc had probably their worst ever games in a Palace shirt. At their level the pitch shouldn’t make that much of a difference or if Marc was slightly out of position! On top of that the other experienced players were all shocking but worse of all there was no passion or professionalism from any of them, which is why I now wonder has OG lost the dressing room.
I don’t know and hope not but it was a disgrace.

What was deeply concerning was a period in the second half when we lost all control, we were 'All at sea', it appeared we were panicking, surrendering possession easily. This from PL players against non-league opposition several levels below in the 'Pyramid'. Absolutely shocking. 😡

On the showing v Villa I would suggest he hasn’t lost the dressing room .

It was just a record breaking bad day at the office .

I expect a reaction v Sunderland.

If we get battered then the question you ask in OP may be just that .

Yeah the ten minutes or so leading up to their second was proper panic. As an aside one thing that impressed me with Macclesfield amongst many was how calm and organised they stayed. That might be because they were playing a team whose attack was about as effective as the Penguins vs Bowser at the start of the Mario movie

I find the whole thing hilarious. 😂😂

However, I would be in a different frame of mind if I'd made the effort to get tickets and travel oop north, with the time and expense, to witness that debacle. I totally understand the anger of those that travelled.

The long and arduous journey home after being subjected to that debacle.
I suspect the players went over to the supporters after the game, had I been amongst our devotees I would have made my views known with some asperity and perhaps using salty language. 😡 😡

Willo, I've read through all 50+ pages of this thread, and have the impression that you have contributed to about half of them, using the word "disgraceful" in most of them. I suggest, for your own good, that you turn off the computer and go up to bed with a nice hot milky drink, containing a triple brandy, and recharge your batteries for a renewed assault tomorrow.

People forget that we completely capitulated at Leeds, to the point where OG called it "embarrassing". Little did he know that that embarrassment was nothing compared to what was coming at Macclesfield.

Those two matches weren't fluky bad games. Both of them looked like our players had little interest in competing. I'm not sure if OG has lost the dressing room, but it's a fair question to ask after yesterday.

🤣 🤣 🤣 👍

I will rise from my slumber thinking about that despicable defeat as I did this morning.

I felt for OG.
If he had played a full-strength team, everyone would have been screaming at him for risking them and not trusting the youngsters.
The inept performance was across every corner of the pitch, which made it very difficult to address through substitutions.
I suspect the player we missed the most was Lerma - a level-headed unsung hero who leads by example.

I don't know what all the fuss is about. It was clearly our intention to lose the game to ensure that our squad now has a manageable schedule, and we will now proceed to win the Europa Conference and edge into 4th place in the Premier League. Job done !

From a Macc fans point of view, I was shocked with Marc and Whartons performances, Marc seemed to compensate for the lack of pace in the game especially in the 2nd half but one player who was completely off was Sosa, how he stayed on the pitch was great for us because he was never in control of the football and it allowed us to bully your ball possession because you didn’t shift it quickly enough.

I will always have now a soft spot for Palace because you are a genuinely a great football club!

This was a blip!
