FA Cup 3rd Round Draw

Exceedingly useful information.Much appreciated. 👍

I know precious little about their current players, their system of play and tactics.
I shall have to garner this information from kind souls that I know.
i'm actually watching them on Boxing day v Buxton (a local Derby).

Haven't seen them this season yet, but they try to play it on the ground and their full backs are quite attacking. At this level of football the 2 CB are big, no nonsense type players.

Manager is John Rooney, not Adam, but he is Wayne's younger brother, not older!

He has retired now, but last season he was the CM and the engine room of an otherwise quite young team.

They do have Love Island Tom Clare as a striker, but he rarely plays - last season he was mainly a sub.

Do hope when you have had a chance to garner this information, that you predict a Palace win!!😄

Very useful indeed, thank you so much.

Macclesfield is quite close to where i live and it's a nice tidy set up.

It's not Macc Town - they went bust - it's a new club, so we have never played them before.

When they reformed (a local business bought them for £500k) they moved through the non league pyramid predominantly by paying high wages for the league they were in.

Lat year they put minority owner Robbie Savage in charge and they won league the league to get promoted to the Conf North. Robbie then moved to Forest Green and took 3 of their best players with him (as he knew what their undisclosed release clause amounts were!).

Their current manager is ex player Adam Rooney who is is Wayne's older brother. Some teams in the Conf North are professional or near professional (40 week contracts) so Macc have found this season more hard going.

Despite the old Macc Town getting low attendances, often c,1500, the new club often get 3k per game. I think as they run a successful boys and girls club (teams c6 to 16 years old) they give cheap tickets to parents etc.

It costs £19 to go to a game, although i suspect prices might go up for our game.

As has been mentioned they have a plastic pitch.

The away end is an open terrace - it is not that big, probably holds c 1k. They usually give a section of main stand seats closest to the away end to the away team too.

The train station (direct trains from Euston) is not overly close to the ground, maybe 25 to 30 minutes walk. It's a similar walk to the city centre in the opposite direction, maybe slightly less.
The away end is known as “The Silkman End”.

Coincidentally somebody opened a thread in Football Talk yesterday about our former player Barry Silkman.

You’ve been reading the Brighton press. It should not be and would be the most unlikely defeat in our history since we lost to Yeovil zillions of years ago. A banker if ever there was one.

With four Premier League teams definitely out and another six out of form teams at high risk of defeat, the omens look good for another Cup run.

Not interested anything Brighton related, it's up to you if your'e interested in them and like reading about them

I recall being defeated by Yeovil in the FA Cup back in the 60s.
1963.
I attended that match, it wasn`t pretty, we lost 3-1, and Yeovil thoroughly deserved their win.
Their ground at the time, Huish, had a well noticeable sloping pitch, corner to corner (diagonally).
