Eze on loan anyone?

Artwatta will 'train the Grealish' out of him, just like his baldy mentor at City.
And look how that turned out for poor old Jack. I learned many many years ago that wanting something is far better than actually having it… 99% of the time.

I can say with utter conviction that winning the FA cup was so much better than I thought it would be.

Back to Ebs. You can’t blame the boy for wanting to go to his boyhood club, Shearer can be a bell end but you can’t argue that he let his heart rule his head when he went to Newcastle and stayed when he could have gone to that United team. Something to be said for that. But Ebs is not shearer. As others have said, he was a luxury that our team put up with because like the FA cup winning goal he had special moments. He was always the lesser of the 2 out to him and olise and he really struggled to find any sort of form and rhythm until Sarr got going and took away defenders like Olise used to do.

At Arsenal, they just wont put up with a player that coasts 3 out 4 games. Too much at stake for them and they have too many options. Ebs will stick it out this season but by Xmas next year he will be angling for a move, likely abroad and then be back.

He got into the england squad playing every week for us. He may not be on the plane being on the bench every week at arsenal. He's not even being subbed on lately.
A typical, the grass isn't greener elsewhere story, which Guehi, Mateta and Wharton should take heed of. Move to a big club with a big squad and find yourself warming the bench as your career passes you by.

What an absolute waste of a player. 5th game running as far as I know without kicking a ball. If he ends up missing the World Cup (which he will) then I hope he still thinks walking out at emirates in his arsenal shirt and jeans was worth it.

As was said, Wilf tried but the grass isn’t always greener, sometimes it’s a muddy cow s*** covered field.

Can't stand Arsenal to such an extent I'd almost prefer Brighton to win the league.
My least favourite manager in the perpetually angry Arteta and my least favourite player in the cheating Gabriel.

Such an entitled club where even the substitutes for the substitutes are internationals costing many millions.

A club that will potentially harm Eze's career although there may be some on here who will have little sympathy and say he's made his bed and has to lie in it.
He was given a few minutes tonight ( the first for a few games ) but not enough time to have any impact.

I don't see Eze displacing Odegard, Rice, Saka, Zubimendi , and there has to be a doubt about him getting into world cup squad if he doesn't get much game time.

I guess the big problem is the Manager or DOF will say - "Son, your a big part of our future plans", indicating that a position in or around the starting line up on a regular basis is virtually guaranteed, once they have signed then they find that things aren't as "cut & dried", management change, plans change, other players return from injury or maybe they pick up a knock in training & then they are just in the queue behind everyone else.

I fecking hate Liverpool, but I was rooting for them to win last night. The smug gooners are doing my head in…

Same, it felt dirty, but I'd rather anyone win the league over Arsenal

And I know it is nasty and bitter, but I hope Eze spends the rest of the season on the bench and misses out on the WC.

I always had this weird attitude towards Arsenal where I kind've liked the club and the team during the Wenger period but hated the fanbase.
These days I hate the club and the team and really hate the fanbase. Majority of whom are Surrey based glory hunters who only started supporting Arsenal during the invincibles season and now think they have some kind of divine right to always win and if they don't win it's only because the league, the officials, the other teams and even The Dalai Lama are against them.
...Despite their manager getting away with spending 73% of every game outside the technical area without ever being penalized.

He got booked lat night, about time.

He was great for us, got us important goals, provided entertainment and seemed like a lovely guy. We got £60+ million for him and he got to go back to his boyhood club where he may well get a PL medal. Having said all that, I said at the time Spurs was probably a better fit. If he'd gone there he would be playing every week and they look more in need of a maverick. Areteta doesn't have any place for one. When I've seen him play for Arsenal he has often been largely anonymous and with huge pressure on wiggy Arteta to deliver the PL there's no way he's going to put up with anyone who isn't working their ar$e off, and that isn't Eze's style.

I'd take him back in a heartbeat, but it's never happening.

Yeah, great summary TL.

I don't hold any resentment towards Ebz at all, still love him as a player, a character at the club and for what he gave us as fans (FA Cup, arguably the greatest moment in our history).

I also don't blame him at all. Winning the FA Cup was my dream as a Palace fan and his was to play for Arsenal, so wins all round as far as I am concerned and why wouldn't he take that chance?

It's a shame it isn't working out but he would definitely have regretted it had he not made the move. I hope things pick up for him soon, whether that be at Arsenal, back here, or elsewhere.

Came off the bench last night (for first time in 5 games) and apart from one foul against him and one touch of the ball he looked completely lost for 15 minutes.

Quite sad really when we're used to seeing him play with such a swagger.

I disagree with fans that say playing in the middle suits him. He struggled there for england v senegal and the game seems to pass him by. Was much better when he's allowed to drift out to the left like he did for us where he can cut inside or if he has the licence to drift rather than with arsenal where he is used in a rigid central position and just plays 5 yard passes a lot of the time.

Maybe he will be used a lot more nearer end of season.

I did say when he was sold that i think we'll buy him back for £25m in 2 seasons' time,

Loved Eze here, but he is a player who can easily get lost in a game, but then pops up and does something wonderful. Very rarely does he make something happen. Loves a shot from front and center outside on the 18 yard box.
At palace, we all looked for him to provide the spark so our players first through would be to look for him. His time so far at arsenal they do not. He seems to take positions that give him space - but space where he is easily bypassed and is never the option his teammates use.

Can't remember what game it was, but there was one recently where he was trying hard, got the ball a bit, even tried a few things all without affecting the game. Then Saka came on, and instantly made a difference, made things happen, caused chaos. This is what Eze needs to do. He has so much talent and skill, but doesn't use the ball well enough for a team like Arsenal. At the moment, anyway. He's only been there a few months, he may need more time to adjust to their style of play.

We all knew his limitations and brilliance.

The only real difference is at Palace he had no competition, and we'd put up with 80 mins of ineffectiveness, hoping that he might still score the winner.

Arsenals depth in those areas is staggering. Even on the bench last night they had Jesus, Martinelli, Merino, Madueke as well as Eze.

As someone else said, he had to make the move, and we got brilliant money for him. I dont think he'll end up looking back on his time there particularly fondly.
