Everton vs. Crystal Palace match thread

We were due a s*** season and the stars are aligned for this one to be it. I’m enjoying the summer watching the cricket playing golf and I’m not letting this lot spoil it. Wake me up in November.

The team will look different in October with the incomings and outgoings and Sage will have his own ideas on players and if he suits how he wants to play.

A defeat at Everton is no surprise - probably 90% on here were forecasting that.

If I was Sage I'd focus most of my attention on defence.
You can't win games if you don't keep clean sheets and no teams achieve success with a leaky defence.
You have to have a solid foundation first, and the current defence looks like it could concede every game.

We are in for weeks of this until Sage starts to figure out what combinations work best together and the squad settles in.

Jeez, bit harsh, it’s his first competitive game. Glasner’s results were pretty shocking when he first arrived.
We won in Glasner's first game 3-0 home to Burnley, that was the only win in his first 6 games.
I am reminded about the supporter who messaged me to predict that Sage would not last until December and will be replaced by Dyche.
He does not believe that Sage was the right appointment.

Agreed. Tomiyasu already looks miles better than Riad however I really doubt his ability to stay fit.

I feel for Riad and I hope his injury isn’t too serious. I suspect though that it is. Hopefully this forces our hand to bring in another experienced defender. The defence that started today is just not good enough.

We clearly need to give Sage some time but today has been very worrying. Basically a reduced version of last season and no defensive solidity. Our tactics looked horribly naive. It would not surprise me if he is gone by October.

We are going to lose to Man City and can’t see us getting anything from Fulham away either. Ipswich at home already looks like it could be a make or break game for Sage sad to say
