Everton vs. Crystal Palace match thread

I’m usually all for giving a Manager time. Some just have that look of loser or give me that vibe. He has all through pre-season and today he is just copying exactly the game plan last season and hiding behind Glasner. Wrong man at the wrong time for me.
I’ve been saying since his first interview, he doesn’t fill you full of confidence that he’s a proper leader of men. But someone piped up with his record at Lens, but you take as you find and even poor managers can have one good season

Forgetting the game for a moment. We have not just arrived in premier league. Why does it always feel like we are the poor man of the league? I know we’ve won some silverware, but this team is very much a lesser team. How can we be taken seriously when we are willing to sell our main central defender on the cheap with years still left on a contract. I trust the board but it is incredibly frustrating because we have now become a selling club. But unlike Bournemouth and Brighton, do not have a sporting director finding the next player on the conveyor belt.

We will never progress will we.

Thats Riad out for the season.... His right knee looks Hurrendous in slow motion. It completely moves well out of place and im sure its the same injury he had previously.

Career ending potentially or atleast season ending 😥

FCUK I just saw a slow mo of that knee bend/twist, doesn't look good. Did similar 10 or so years ago needed 18 months to even walk properly.

Hope that this is not the same.

who are Charlton's main rivals ? their local Derby ?

cos its not us ( Brighton)

its not the Woolwich Arsenal ( gone away)

not Chelscum..........too far away.

Its not Millwall nor West Ham ( each other)

so who are their big rival ? Leyton orient ?

Dyche is the man for the players we have, he will get the most out of what we have, to me Wharton passing to Pino or McNeil on the wings, crosses coming in, Larsen and Nketieh (playing in his position) seems a lot more exciting to me than this miss, mass rubbish, you can see already by the subs and reaction to what was in front of him, he hasn't got it, has he.

By the sounds of things, we will be lucky to just have 2 goals against us!

Everton now full of confidence and bossing the game.

Shame, first 30 mins my enthusiasm levels were well up there. Now watching ‘Shed & Buried’

Many of ours predicted this performance and result, so not sure why we're all so angry now. The team has been weakened again and again by outgoing transfers that we had no choice but to sanction (perhaps Lacroix aside) and we are most likely entering a difficult period.

Sage appears to have taken the perfectly reasonable approach of sticking with a successful system that most of the players are familiar with, at least at the outset. I don't doubt he considered changing it from the outset but found that even a tweak in style seemed a step too far at the moment.

I'm not saying he gets six games as a free hit, but I think if he makes too many changes to our system and style from the outset and we do anything other than very well, the players will naturally doubt his methods. If, on the other hand, he sticks with what they know and we do badly then they will be far more receptive to change.

I wouldn't be surprised if the team looks very different in October.
