Everton vs. Crystal Palace match thread

JPM is in the kind of form in front of goal that gave Edouard his chance, some of his misses have been horrendous. This game should have been put away long before the penalty, let alone the winner.

We should have put the game to bed. JPM wasn’t great but the general team performance wasn’t all that bad. They came out aggressively in the second half and robbed a win, but our defence play was pretty solid Kamada and Wharton were both excellent.
In a pub after the game an Everton fan said we had battered them and we did. All the compliments from their fans doesn’t help feeling gutted about a game we threw away.
Their stadium is very good.

I've not really seen any hate directed at Everton in the comments.. It was a game we should of won comfortably but we threw it away.. We gifted you a way back in with a stupid tackle from Lacroix as up until then you hadn't really done anything.

Its been quite rightly pointed out that the Ref certainly favoured Everton with his 50/50 decisions, fell for Grealish falling to the floor every time he was touched and booked Adam Wharton for a perfectly good tackle.

However it wasn't the Ref who lost us the game is was us but certainly no hate towards Everton.
Good luck for the rest of the season.

You could argue it was the ref that cost us giving that iffy pen for a start and Grealish should have been sent off with a second yellow card.

If Hughes and Nketiah play from the start, we win that match comfortably. Quite clearly missed the bite in midfield and it’s time to give Eddie a run of games I think - take advantage of form and confidence.

Fuming.

We are a team of very talented players but what we seem to be lacking is that special someone with the ruthless killer instinct. The number of chances that are being created is excellent but the finishing does not match. This was evident in this game and the last two. If we could solve that problem we would be unbeatable.

Uche ‘violent conduct’ was almost laughable. How does it even get to a var review. He will need to sort that out though, no need to be doing anything like that, just gives a chance to be sent off for no reason.

Pino almost got himself sent off as well which was rather silly! However, Garner pushed Pino over, where was the ‘violent conduct’ review then?!?!
Especially as it was that t*** Tarkowski, who bizarrely has never sent off

TBF Ithought it was a penalty. However there was something very odd about how he constantly penalised Wharton.
Read his WIKI are we really that short of refs that he has not been sacked?

The last 10 years against these scabby c****. Btw "W" means a "L" for us

You can't make that up, it's worse than our record v Spurs. At least v Villa we play them off the park, with this lot it doesn't matter. We've handed them 57 out of a possible 66 points!!!! If they played us every week they would be double winners. in all but one season, which they'd only win the title.

I seem to remember the FA cup win happened during an Everton Frank Lampard doom spiral.

Bit of bouncebackability need now… after the international break we have a nice run of games. Bournemouth, AEK Larnaca, Arsenal and then Liverpool again… that should tell us a bit about our team and separate the men from the boys so to speak.

I remember a Friday night away game and I’m sure we beat them 3-1 with Zaha and Bolassie running riot

We played as well in the first half today as we have all season.
We were threatening every time we attacked including from long throw ins.
Henderson was largely a spectator and Wharton, Pino and Munoz were outstanding.
However, as the second half progressed our performance levels dropped off significantly.
Some of this can be attributed to the Everton tactical changes and heightened intensity.
We lost control of the game, not helped by the missing of glaring opportunities.
In conclusion, a performance that was simultaneously encouraging and disappointing with uktimately a sucker punch.
Forget Brighton, I want us to beat Everton.

First 70 mins today was as good as first half vs the much better other scousers . Wharton and kamada ran the show. Then they both got tired. We missed some great chances. We were miles better than our bogey team. It was a great game. Onto the next one. We will definitely need reinforcements in January ( or academy prospects start to deliver). Guehi was magnificent. COYP!

Was it? Looked like he punched him in guts. I thought he got saved because there wasn't a better angle and Tarkowski stayed on his feet. If that had been Grealish he'd be rolling around on the floor and I reckon Uche goes.

Garner got a yellow didnt he?

As they say you learn more in defeat.

Need to rotate more in the midweek games and put our chances away. Maybe that extra running after the red card made us a bit extra tired?
Also don't rile up the home crowd like pino did.

We need our midfielders to score. According to the stats on the tab above Wharton, Kamada, Lerma and Hughes have scored 2 in 297 games between them.
