I suspect discussions were had after Sunderland and OG clearly doesn't rate/trust Uche. Therefore, Palace have gone out and got him an upgrade (on paper). Essentially can play either left or right up front and possibly as an emergency striker. Looks similar to Sarr from what i've seen - better facing the goal with space to run into. Not surprising really as he's not done enough to get into their team. I am at least more comfortable that it's a try before you buy deal. Two things though, I hope the 'obligation threshold' is high so that we can take a proper look at him before deciding if we want him permanently. Secondly I'm a bit disappointed we don't seem to have negotiated a lower fee for him, with a 2m loan fee + 28m option to buy Villa basically recoup exactly what they paid for him despite the fact he's basically failed there.
But on the whole happy to give it a go as the risk has been reduced. Now to see if Glasner refuses to use him 😉
In terms of the fee etc, it does seem a little steep, however, does the loan fee cover wages or are we paying these on top? Similarly, the £28m might have add ons rolled up into it, so £25m plus £3m in add on etc.
