Not surprising really as he's not done enough to get into their team. I am at least more comfortable that it's a try before you buy deal. Two things though, I hope the 'obligation threshold' is high so that we can take a proper look at him before deciding if we want him permanently. Secondly I'm a bit disappointed we don't seem to have negotiated a lower fee for him, with a 2m loan fee + 28m option to buy Villa basically recoup exactly what they paid for him despite the fact he's basically failed there.

But on the whole happy to give it a go as the risk has been reduced. Now to see if Glasner refuses to use him 😉
I suspect discussions were had after Sunderland and OG clearly doesn't rate/trust Uche. Therefore, Palace have gone out and got him an upgrade (on paper). Essentially can play either left or right up front and possibly as an emergency striker. Looks similar to Sarr from what i've seen - better facing the goal with space to run into.

In terms of the fee etc, it does seem a little steep, however, does the loan fee cover wages or are we paying these on top? Similarly, the £28m might have add ons rolled up into it, so £25m plus £3m in add on etc.

A bit too late to be competitive this season in a meaningful way. We'll scrape through to the end of the season and we'll have the whole of the Summer window to look for a decent CB if the new manager plays a system that warrants us buying a ready made one.
By competitive, I meant just winning games! We could do with doing that 3 or 4 times to be safe...

Not sure why we are buying this guy.
I hope I am wrong and that someone has seen something amazing about him because £28m for a non goalscorer won't work - we have enough of them already!
We were after him in the Summer so presumably see something in him despite his lack of impact with Villa. TBF he hasn't been given a run of games and I'm loathe to judge a forward until he's been given the chance to have a run of games. Sorloth and Mateta are classic examples of one we lost and one we fortunately kept

Yet another deal to bite the dust????

Quite possibly. However, he wanted to come to the PL and hasn't cracked it yet. Does he want to go to a big Italian team in a country where none of their teams managed to make the top 8 of the CL or does he want to have a 2nd bite at the cherry in England where he will be more visible to the big PL teams?

He's 24. Will be interesting to see which he goes for.

I did read somewhere that he apparently sees himself more as a centre forward than a winger, so maybe that's where we're thinking of playing him, even though he has played more games as a right-winger, especially with Villa. We certainly don't need another right-winger, unless Rupert Lowe is secretly buying the club!

We'll have more than Reform before long.
