El Hadji Diouf

I think you've just called Zaha a w4nker by Proxy 🤔 😆
It was a terrible choice and I knew it was the wrong one. It didn't take Wilf too long but long enough.
There was something going on, apparently within our squad. Why would you turn down 125k to stay in London to take 65k to play in Turkey? It may be Istanbul but that's a load of bull. Career over more or less.

Agree a strange move - but probably the best option available once he decided to leave Palace - and he did play Champions league football and get a league winners medal.

He also got a c£2.5m signing on fee so always knew if he left after 1 season he would earn over £100k a week for that season, which is essentially what has happened.

Diouf was asked about his future and said he 'needs to play' and seemed to question whether he'd get game time at Liverpool.
He's more likely to get minutes with us, but I don't see him displacing Mitchell ( at least initially).

I did have that wonder about Diouf, and if he's too established in a weird way...

I know he's only 20, but he's playing reasonable level + europa league. He'll know the prem is a step up, but surely will want a guarantee of being first choice.

Whilst a little unspectacular, TM is hella solid, and never misses a game.

PVA could be spectacular going forward...

OG has previously said TM needs to develop the attacking side of his game and I think if Diouf or another were to come in who was better going forward then I think TM would be the one to lose out. If we could get someone who came close to offering Munoz's threat down the left then we could really start to fly.

He's also one of the worst defenders at defending that I've ever seen - positionally he was horrific, he couldn't mark and his work rate to get back in position was laughable.

Whilst this system would be a better fit for him, I still think he'd be shown up defensively.

I don't think he can expect any guarantees to be first choice at this stage - he's a 20 year old with a handful of pro games in the Czech league joining a side in good form.

I think he'll get opportunities and provide competition in the first year or so, but I very much expect Mitchell to remain first choice.

As mentioned above, Diouf is an alternative who can give us some more attacking impetus down the left if we are chasing a game or expecting to see a lot of the ball - I think that will be his role initially.

I agree. Its just if thats a role Diouf would be happy with given his recent comments

I dont think we will buy a LWB and not play him.
Remember Mitchell is a left back and from what ive seen he is not adapting that well to LWB.
If we buy a LWB surely he will be played.

That's why the sentence was left unfinished.
