Eagle Football Group / Textor in Administration

Well he’s only the chairman. So fancy journalists assuming he had anything to do with them going into administration……
My understanding is that Textor put this consortium together and persuaded the others to invest in his plan. When ever he spoke it was always "me me me" as though he was the sole decision maker.

If it's other people's fault then he only has himself to blame for not making that clear that he was just a mouth piece.

More of a ring piece.
After the dramas of our European venture it now looks like a bargain price to get rid of him. Ignoring the fact that we'd have almost certainly got gubbed out of the "higher" competition.
Win/Win?

The bigger boys who had invested with him had already appointed their own over Textor to protect their investments. I think it was Kang that was placed over his company.

As I understand it Michelle Kang bought the OL Ladies team to protect it from the main club’s problems. Part of the French FA’s conditions to allow OL men’s team to continue trading Textor handed over control to MK and she became President of the Club and Chief Executive of Eagle Football Holdings. She is a minority shareholder in EFH but with the largest individual stake. OL men’s team is currently about €400k in debt and it is unlikely MK will bail out the men’s team as her main aim is promoting women’s sports.

I've just had a horrible feeling that Eagle Holdings might own part of the academy. I presume Johnson bought Textor out completely. I hope anyway.
According to AI we’re OK:

The Crystal Palace Academy, which achieved Category One status following a £20m redevelopment completed in 2021, is owned and operated by
Crystal Palace Football Club. The club ownership group, which oversees the academy, includes Woody Johnson (reported 43%), Josh Harris, David Blitzer, and Chairman Steve Parish.

Key details regarding the academy ownership and development include:
  • Ownership Structure: The Academy is part of the main club structure, backed by the same consortium that holds equity in Crystal Palace F.C..
  • Investment: The state-of-the-art facility was developed following the acquisition of the site in 2018, aiming to attract top talent and support the local community.
  • Management: While overseen by the club owners, the Academy has its own dedicated staff, including Academy Director Gary Issott and youth coaches.
  • Development: The Academy, located on Copers Cope Road, was opened with support from figures including Steve Parish, Josh Harris, David Blitzer, and formerly John Textor, who sold his stake in 2025.

The Academy is integral to the club's long-term strategy of developing young players and engaging with the community through the Palace for Life Foundation.

I thought Textor in whole or in part funded the trainig ground improvements?

Obviously difficult to separate truth from conjecture unless you were part of that inner group of shareholders or the finance guy - From memory, I got the impression that funds for the academy came from proceeds of AWB sale to Manure + from Textor either in his initial buy in or when he increased his shareholding stake or from a loan, but certainly he was linked to it, but at around the same time we spent money on Eze & Olise' (& probably a few others that my grey matter wont recall at least until I have had a few coffees, more ITK contributors than me will no doubt remember) - in any event he will presumably have got whatever money was due to him when he sold his shares & I guess any loans that were outstanding were probably paid up.

Also Lyon managed to convince the regulator that they were stable and that had consequences regarding European fixtures if I'm remembering correctly, which in turn affected us.
After some dodgy dealings with the Fat Greek. Have no sympathy for Lyon I’m afraid, although tbf not their fans fault

As far as I know, two main ways for a new owner to get a stake, one is to buy out an existing shareholder and the second is for the business to issue new shares and existing stakeholders either participate or get diluted.

An interesting article from the we are palace website - seems to credit Roberto Franca a South African Businessman with contributions to the funding of the academy.

The academy must be owned and financed by the club and new money is only possible from new shares or player sales?

Edit just to add the accounts are due today.

This is not a Palace website. They are part of GRV Media & are based in Widnes, they do all EPL clubs. I wouldn't give them time of day.
