Dublin....Palace

Had a little look at the hotel prices around the game out of curiosity.

Blimey they are mightily expensive. There is certainly no £39 premier ins or Travelodges.
Tulfarris hotel is top class....has a golf course...but about 40 minutes into the stix,so I would need a car . But price about €140 for a shared room ...air BnB around blessington are not bad prices,I live there 20 minutes from stadium and a good little town for a few pints .,if ya need any help ..let me know

There are apps for the Luas (tram), Irish Rail and Freenow (taxi)
TranslinkNI app up norf though the trains are probably best booked on their website of the same name

Thanks for the offer but sure I live in Kildare and office is in citywest just beside the stadium 😅

The Dublin cabbies tell me u can get a 24hr oyster card type thing at airport that gives u discounted travel on buses n trams for a.few euro's..? Traffic's meant to be s*** show..like here

Just be a bit careful in Dublin

Imagine Dublin to be slightly rougher than the worst part of Croydon, and you will be ok. And imagine that a Union Jack is about as welcome in Ireland as Brighton iconography in West Croydon.......however the St George is probably not a problem - and you will get free pints if you wave a tiny irish tricolour.
The Dublin suburbs are nicer than the town centre- less junkies, beggars and Deliveroo bikes. The posh bits = most places along the Dart rail line.

If i was a Nigel flying to town i would stay at any of : Blessington, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin 4, Malahide*, Swords*, Dromcondra*, Stillorgan, Sandyford, Leopardstown, or along the Luas Red line. And i would avoid the city centre.....its better to drink & stagger home to hotel rather than risking the roughness of Dublin city centre and a ripoff late-night Taxi.

the Guinness Storehouse is for american tourists. Christchurch cathedral is better. If you wish to do a week or so then its gotta be Newgrange & the Cliffs of Moher.

* for airport connections.

whatever the lineage of your resident Irish person, there was a general distrust of the English, which kind of bonded them. For some, it was a hatred of the English, while others it was a simmering indifference.

There's a lot of Irish in the world, who have spent very little time (if any) in the Emerald Isle, and they wax lyrical about their yearning for 'home'

Well, for those Palace going to the game in Dublin, you might well find yourselves exposed to a city in a bit of turmoil. Immigration has totally changed some areas and there are many residents who don't recognise their own city, from as little as 10 years ago

Anywhere south of O'Connell bridge is fine. Stay away from the Northside 😅

Seriously....Dublin getting some bad press here ..
Yes,it has changed recently..
But it still a good city .....as previously said ..union jack ...not a great idea..
But that's down to history...
Believe me ..when you come over for the match.. you will have a great time!

Bit like Croydon on a match day. All the good folks are in town on the day. But go into Thornton Heath or Croydon town center on a non match day you might just never come back 🙊

Funny , I was born in Mayday Hospital in Croydon . Went to school in West Croydon , Both my parent are from Tipperary, When im in England everyone calls me Paddy and when im in Ireland everyone calls me a plastic Paddy , I never lost my Croydon accent. All i know is Palace till i die . No offence taken here . at least im not a plastic United or Liverpool fan .
Almost ditto..
Born in Tooting. Parents from Leitrim & Sligo. School in Sutton and Purley.
Had 2 passports. Only the Irish one is now valid.
Who am I? The question many ask …I’m probably the textbook plastic paddy. Wear a mixture of CPFC and Leitrim GAA tops.
I don’t get too fixated on it to be fair… More important things in life to worry about.

PalaceVecchio I’m heading down to Windy Arbour now wearing my Palace shirt and I’ll head into Dundrum after that….. will I be safe?

when i was at school, the teachers used to threaten to send us to the place in Dundrum with the high walls. Which is really more Windy Arbour than Dundrum.
But then again, the Christian Brothers were a scary bunch of looneys. Like a cross between Vinny Jones and Father Jack.

I have a cousin who worked in the place with the high walls for 30 years occasionally he would bring a client home for lunch. It may of been their only escape from a lonely existence. It is to be redeveloped for housing in the meantime it is supplying refuge to others.

Just booked the Harcourt Hotel £90 Inc b'fast....15.walk from Bowes pub and Palace Bar...that's me.sorted...now all I need is Ryan Air to have no delays..don't have much like with budget airlines recently...although this flight is hardly budget £245 but times are perfect, good luck all...my cousins reckon match tix won't be a issue locally, they live out there and claim to be getting me 4 when go on sale
