Do We Have a Responsibility?

I don't know who, but I will say that I am less concerned by WHAT people say sometimes and more HOW they say it. I once took a five year hiatus from this forum in support of someone who had significantly different viewpoints to me. Didn't agree with much he ever said but I felt like his contribution was valuable and he got slapped wrists for something. I forget what.

I like debate, varying perspectives. I probably rarely change my stance but perhaps alter my perception a smidge. However, there may be a user that sounds so rabid I am half expecting to hear he's gone berserk and blown up a shopping centre. Utterly unhinged in his communication. There may well be some valid points being made but totally drowns himself out howling at the moon.
What shopping centre out of interest. I know a few which could do with a refit !

When somebody joins an online debate, who is clearly so mentally ill that they may be dangerous to themselves or others, do we have a responsibility to intervene?

Are we complicit in their breakdown, or their forthcoming rampage with a homemade weapon if we do nothing? Or if we bait them? Or if we coddle them and support their human right to lunacy?

What could we even do?

I sometimes feel guilty. Should we help and would they even welcome help?

Discuss.
A cry for help, disguised. A bit different than asking for a friend.

The people most responsible for helping in these situations are family.

In the oh so common modern situation of family breakdown and lack of duty for internal family problems still means it isn't the responsiblity of strangers to help people....if it happens cool, but it's no one's job.

You would hope that the person's friends would help but often in a case of mental instablity those are thin on the ground.

The state too....while being expected to be everyone's nanny, can only do so much.

So without someone related taking responsibility then the natural course of events will take their course. Adults with IQs above 85, have to take responsibility for their own lives and unless they are dangerous to others we can't baby sit everyone.

Mental health issues in today's culture is inevitably going to increase.....that's what breaking down traditional roles creates.

My advice to males is to mentally invest in Stocism.....as your forefathers did. The strength you are looking for is within.

If I see any suspect posts inferring that the person may be in trouble or a marble short of a full bag I just f*** off to xhamster for half hour and hope they're gone by the time I return to call someone a c*** or whatever.
Don't get involved is the moral of the story.

A post can't infer anything, only the person reading it.
