Distant fan bases

Heard they meet in the Front Lounge, Dublin but that was a few years ago. Bumped into two Palace fans where I live but they weren't really as long term as myself. Had one guy run out of a shop to speak to me because he couldn't believe I was walking around in a Palace hat. His question was "are you an actual Palace fan?". Turns out his Mother is from Croydon (Croydon Irish) but lives here now.
What's more worrying is I've genuinely seen two Brighton shirts. Degenerates.

Surely if they're meeting up in Dublin, they're missing a trick if they're not meeting up here:

I'm slowly starting one here in the Algarve. Me, my 1 yr old son and my 2 Portuguese nephews (8 & 1). Hoping to take the older nephew back to London with me for a game towards the end of the season.

I also convinced my Kenyan friend to be a Crystal Palace fan so there's a fan group of 1 in Nairobi as well ! 😆

Does he meet up with himself in a bar somewhere to watch the games? 🤣

I used to belong to a Palace fan group way back when called 'Eastern Eagles' I lived in N'pton at the time. One of the guys got me tickets to the old Wembley for our play-off final v Sheff Utd.

I am surprised at how life-affirming I find it to read this thread - to realise that pretty much anywhere in the world I go I could probably find someone to talk Palace with. Slightly off-topic but I am 57 years old (50 years a Palace fan) and pretty puzzled that at my age Palace can be so important to me, and our results dictate my mood. But it's great to read this thread, and HOL generally, and realise that I am not alone !

Same as you LiH. I'm older than you but nothing gets easier. You'd think when your first game was before any of the current players were born you'd relax a bit. I doubt many of their parents were born when I first went and it still doesn't help.

😆 Your post makes me think of my dad, now 88, and he still gets so nervous he normally won't even watch Palace on tv !

As my dad used to say - When they were handing out luck we were standing there with half a walnut shell.
Would I change anything? Yes. I bloody well would but it's too late now and things could be, and often have been, a lot worse.
